Furniture ‘destroys’ the small kitchen space

--

For modest-sized kitchens, experts recommend choosing a design with bright colors and reducing furniture to “cheat” the area.

Kitchens with an area of 8-12 m2 often face many limitations when designing the interior. According to architect Doan Manh (Combo Home), in this case, priority should be given to using light colors and arranging I-shaped kitchen cabinets to help keep the space airy. In addition, be careful to avoid some common errors and inappropriate details:

Large dining table

Oversized dining tables can “clog” the space and hinder circulation, so homeowners can consider using a small size, just enough for their needs.

As for the kitchen island, it should be integrated into a dining table or replaced with a smart, foldable form. This solution helps save space, creating flexible and convenient space.

Many electronic devices

Using many electronic appliances to support the cooking process will increase the feeling of bulkiness, creating unnecessary pressure for the modest kitchen space. Instead of using many individual devices, you should choose multi-purpose products to save space.

For example, instead of using a separate grill and microwave, homeowners can consider choosing a microwave with an integrated grill function. Scientific space planning helps optimize usable area, making the cooking process simple and effective.

Separate shelves and racks

Many people have the habit of buying appliances without paying attention to their usefulness. Shelves and removable shelves are typical examples. These utensils make many people mistakenly think that they will help the kitchen be tidier, but in reality, the exact opposite is true.

The advice is to design the kitchen cabinet system to optimize function and storage, combining scientific classification of cabinet compartments. This helps store more items and is convenient when cooking.

Too many decorations

Avoid choosing too many decorative details, especially items that are large or too heavy. Instead, keep the space airy by reducing unnecessary items and focusing on compact and sophisticated items.

The lights are many and large

Large pendant lights and dense arrangement are common reasons for “taking up space” in small kitchens. If you still want to use artificial lighting, you can consider a downlight (attached to the ceiling and shines light down) or a sportlight (illuminates a specific position, can adjust the direction – angle).

In particular, downlights should be used when diffused light effects are needed and create a spacious feeling. Sportlights will be suitable for creating highlights and increasing light in specific areas, such as the stove location. Using the right type of lamp will help make the kitchen space brighter and warmer.
