A massive work on Champa culture and history

According to Associate Professor. Dr. Truong Van Mon, research methods, theories and approaches of the book series Champa culture and history Carry out interdisciplinary research methods including Culture – History.

Share more with PLO, Associate Professor. Dr. Truong Van Mon said that he had a whole process of researching and implementing the book series Champa Culture and History.

“In 1991, after graduating from university, I returned to the Champa land and felt very overwhelmed and did not know where to start. There were many times I wanted to give up, but every day, every hour, I went on field trips throughout the Cham lands to gather my resources. Only then will I see that the problem of Cham culture is very massive and it is not enough to write a book but to take a longer path and journey” – Associate Professor. Dr. Truong Van Mon said.

According to Associate Professor. Dr. Truong Van Mon, while struggling, he received a scholarship in the US and decided to study abroad. During his 5 years studying in the US, he met many Cham people from around the world.

“Cham culture today is like fragments not only in Central Vietnam but also all over the world. After returning from school, with the collected documents available and the knowledge I have learned, I started writing the book. book” – Associate Professor. Dr. Truong Van Mon shared.

Through this book series, Associate Professor. Dr. Truong Van Mon believes that Cham culture does not serve academics but also serves ordinary readers, especially today’s tour guides.

“I always think about how to write so that readers can not only read and understand easily, but also conquer problems that I haven’t thought of yet. I also hope that readers can read my books easily to understand, memorize and remember. ” – Associate Professor. Dr. Truong Van Mon expressed.

Attend the book launch presentation Champa culture and history, Professor Dr. People’s Artist Ngo Van Le, Former Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Vietnam, commented that the book series has contributed to solving a major problem that is reaffirming the territory of Champa in the general context from North to South. I believe with this project, Associate Professor, Dr. Truong Van Mon will have other larger, more comprehensive projects. And we are very proud of that” – Dr. Phu Van Han said.

As for Associate Professor Dr. Le Hong Ly, Chairman of the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, Associate Professor Dr. Truong Van Mon is a person with an advantage on this topic because Associate Professor Dr. Truong Van Mon is a Cham person.

“In science, it is very taboo to talk about insiders because it can easily lead to subjectivity and extremes. This is something that is very important to pay attention to as a scientist. Now that you are a Cham person, you must stand from the perspective of a scientist, not a Cham person.

When you avoid the problems mentioned above, it will help you become a beloved author” – Associate Professor, Dr. Le Hong Ly said.

Regarding the issue mentioned by Associate Professor Dr. Le Hong Ly, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Nam Tien, Faculty of International Relations (Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities) very much shares this opinion.

However, Associate Professor. Dr. Tran Nam Tien believes that this subjectivity is very necessary for research. “Because they are insiders, they understand the nature and problem correctly. But I also share the problem of research resonance. Specifically, to reduce subjectivity, resonance and coordination are needed. With foreign researchers to create synthetic research, it will be very successful” – Associate Professor Dr. Tran Nam Tien added.
