Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee responded to voters about former President Vo Van Thuong’s resignation

On the morning of April 24, the National Assembly Delegation of Da Nang City met with voters in the three districts of Hai Chau, Son Tra, and Thanh Khe to prepare for the 7th session of the 15th National Assembly.

“Many officials come back from prison still very rich”

Speaking at the conference, voter Tran Vinh Thai (Hai Chau district) asked why two former Presidents, including Mr. Vo Van Thuong resigned while being a National Assembly Delegate of the Da Nang City National Assembly Delegation. Voters want to be provided with clear and transparent information and respond to distorted allegations in cyberspace.

Voter Tran Thanh Ton (Son Tra district) said that cases related to Phuc Son and Thuan An groups… must be fought regularly to prevent corruption.

“Vietnam’s average income is still low, but a part of officials spend wastefully, sending their children to study abroad. All corrupt assets must be recovered. Many officials who return from prison are still very rich,” Mr. Ton said.

According to voter Tran Nguyen Duy Thinh (Thanh Khe district), officials should be required to sign a commitment to confiscate all assets if corrupt. Signing a commitment demonstrates the sense of responsibility and determination of officials to fight corruption, creating a deterrent for those with corrupt intentions.

Mr. Thinh also proposed criminalizing credit officers who do not conduct thorough appraisals, collude with borrowers who are reluctant to approve, causing loss of bank capital and State assets.

This voter believes that it is necessary to criminalize economic fraud cases with amounts greater than 200 million VND. Thereby, protecting the rights of people and businesses, contributing to building a healthy business environment.

Responding to this content, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Head of the Da Nang City National Assembly Delegation Nguyen Van Quang said that the current Penal Code has criminalized the above behavior.

In the crime of violating regulations related to banking activities, there was improper appraisal behavior leading to improper lending, causing loss of assets. Currently, officials at the State Bank and commercial banks are being held responsible for this behavior.

Changing leaders, not changing the Party’s views

Speaking about Mr. Vo Van Thuong’s resignation, Mr. Quang said that this is a key leader of the Party and State, received basic training, grew up from the grassroots, and was assigned to hold many leadership positions. important for the Party and State.

However, Mr. Vo Van Thuong violated the Regulations on what party members cannot do, the Regulations on the responsibility of setting an example for officials and party members, and the responsibility of the leader.

Mr. Vo Van Thuong’s violations and shortcomings have caused bad public opinion, affecting the reputation of the Party, the State and him personally. Clearly aware of his responsibility to the Party, State and people, Mr. Vo Van Thuong submitted an application to resign from his assigned positions and take a leave of absence from work, which was approved by the Party Central Committee.

According to Mr. Quang, although public opinion has many different opinions, this once again specifically demonstrates the Party’s views and policies in fighting against corruption. The negative is that there are no prohibited areas, no exception, no matter who that person is.

This has been clearly shown in reality, recognized and highly appreciated by the people and public opinion, agreeing with this viewpoint. Not everyone with a high position is exempt.

“The Central Committee has affirmed that no matter where the leadership changes, the Party’s guidelines and viewpoints will not change. Changing people but not changing the Party’s political stance,” Mr. Quang emphasized.
