These days, the construction units of the North-South expressway project on the Dien Chau – Bai Vot section are working day and night, trying to complete the project on schedule, to open to traffic on April 28.
Dien Chau – Bai Vot Expressway is expected to open for traffic about 30km from the National Highway 7 intersection in Dien Cat commune, Dien Chau district to the National Highway 46B intersection in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district (Nghe An). The remaining kilometers of the route to Bai Vot (Ha Tinh) will be opened to traffic later.
The North-South expressway project, Dien Chau – Bai Vot section, is 49.3 km long, passing through 2 provinces of Nghe An (44.4 km) and Ha Tinh (4.9 km), with a total investment of more than 11,150 billion VND, approved investment in the form of public-private partnership (PPP).
The project enterprise is Phuc Thanh Hung Investment Joint Stock Company. The project investor is a joint venture of Hoa Hiep Company Limited – CIENCO 4 Group Joint Stock Company – Nui Hong Investment Company Limited – Truong Son Construction Corporation – VINA2 Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company.
Dien Chau – Bai Vot Expressway passes through Than Vu tunnel (through Than Vu mountain range) for more than 1km in Dien Chau district (Nghe An)
Because the Than Vu tunnel passes through the Than Vu mountain range at a high altitude, the highway passing through here is built on hundreds of reinforced concrete pillars, 20 to 50 meters high.

According to the sign, the speed limit on the Dien Chau – Bai Vot expressway is 60 – 80km/h.
Although there are only 4 days left until traffic is open, the area near the highway intersection and National Highway 46B (Hung Nguyen, Nghe An section) is still not completed. By the morning of April 24, the highway surface had only completed the base layer, not yet the asphalt concrete carpet. The slope system on both sides has not been done yet.

According to some workers, to ensure the opening schedule on April 28, they worked in several shifts, constructing overnight.
Once completed and put into use, the North-South Expressway section of Dien Chau – Bai Vot will shorten the time from Hanoi to Vinh City to just over 3 hours.
