Particularly, the section from house number 1135/83 connecting to Dao Tri street was previously just a dirt road without a drainage system, leading to flooding and difficulty traveling for people in the area.

Therefore, District 7 People’s Committee determined that investing, upgrading and expanding alley 1135 Huynh Tan Phat (the section from house number 1135/83 connecting to Dao Tri street) is urgent.

Mr. Le Van Thanh – Vice Chairman of People’s Committee 7 said that in response to actual needs, District 7 and Phu Thuan Ward People’s Committee have mobilized people to relocate houses and structures to hand over the premises to upgrade and expand the alley. From an alley that was just over 4m wide, now the road has been jointly expanded by the State and people to 6m, with a total investment of more than 6 billion VND from socialized sources.

Similar to the upgrading and expansion of alley 803 Huynh Tan Phat, Phu Thuan ward, Mr. Thanh also informed that the alley is about 432 m long and 2.5 – 3.5 m wide. The current condition of this alley has deteriorated and is often flooded during the rainy season, making it difficult for people in the area to travel, so repairs are urgent.

Since then, the District Party Committee and People’s Committee of District 7 have directed specialized departments to survey and prepare economic and technical reports to propose project investment policies. Alley 803 Huynh Tan Phat will be upgraded and expanded to 5m with a total investment of about 18 billion VND from the city budget.

At the same time, District 7 and Phu Thuan Ward People’s Committee coordinated with socio-political organizations to mobilize people in the alley to relocate houses and structures to hand over the site for project construction.

“Seeing the benefits of expanding the alley, many households have proactively relocated their houses to hand over the land. We hope the project will be completed soon so that people will have new roads and no flooding.”

50 alleys are widened over 4 m

Mr. Le Van Thanh further informed that, also today, the People’s Committees of 10 wards of District 7 simultaneously responded to the groundbreaking, celebrating 12 projects upgrading and expanding alleys and launching general cleaning and construction troops. Implementing the District Party Committee’s Resolution on mobilizing people to donate land, upgrade and expand alleys in the period 2020 – 2025, recently District 7 has upgraded and expanded 50 alleys to a width of over 4m ( achieved the target of the whole term), completed upgrading 99 alleys according to the current status with a width of 2.5-3.5 m.

The total cost of upgrading and expanding the alley is about 60.5 billion VND, of which 37.56 billion VND from socialization sources and 22.96 billion VND from public investment capital.

District 7 residents are actively donating land and expanding the alley.

In addition, District 7 has completed investment in new construction five bridges in the alley with a total cost of nearly 21.9 billion VND from socialized capital.

In just the first 4 months of the year, District 7 has completed upgrading and expanding 7 alleys to a width of ≥ 4m, and completed upgrading 19 alleys to their current status with a width of 2.5-3.5m. Total implementation cost is 3.6 billion VND from socialization funds and People’s Committees of 10 wards

In 2024, the People’s Committee of District 7 and the People’s Committees of 10 wards will continue to strive to upgrade and expand at least 10 alleys and exceed the target of upgrading and expanding 50 alleys in the 2020 – 2025 term.

At the same time, continue to implement phase 2 of piloting the construction of green landscapes along ponds, lakes, and canals associated with streets in the district.
