As of today (April 25), the Eastern North-South Expressway Projects that have been opened and put into operation have all arranged rest stops/temporary stations to serve the travel needs of people. during the upcoming holiday April 30 – May 1.

Arrange adequate rest stops along the North-South Expressway

To serve the essential needs of people while waiting for the rest stops to complete their investment and put them into operation, leaders of the Ministry of Transport said that up to now, the Project Management Boards have been proactive, Urgently deploy and be ready to serve the people.

Specifically, for the section from Phap Van Expressway to Cao Bo, there are 2 rest stops being operated by the Vietnam Expressway Development Investment Corporation (VEC) at Km227+000 in Ha Nam and Xuan Khiem provinces ( Km269, Ninh Binh province).

From Xuan Khiem Station to National Highway 46B, arrange 3 temporary stop locations on the Mai Son Expressway-National Highway 45 section (Km329+700); Nghi Son-Dien Chau section at Truong Vinh tunnel entrance (Km386+360); Dien Chau-Bai Vot section at Than Vu tunnel entrance (Km438) has stations on the left and right of the route at each location.

Thus, from Hanoi to Vinh (Nghe An province), with a length of about 280km, there are 5 rest stops (including 2 stations of investors in operation and 3 temporary stations) with an average distance of 50-60km. Arrange a rest stop/temporary station to ensure the stopping needs of vehicles participating in traffic on the route.

For the section from Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa province) to Ho Chi Minh City, arrange 3 temporary rest stop locations on the Nha Trang-Cam Lam sections at Km33; Cam Lam-Vinh Hao section at Km113; Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet section at Km199 on the left side of the route and a highway exit/entry point at intersection DT765 on Phan Thiet-Dau Giay Highway to go to Dai Phu rest stop; In the direction from Ho Chi Minh – Nha Trang, arrange 2 temporary rest stop locations on the Cam Lam – Vinh Hao sections at Km113.


The Ministry of Transport is urgently selecting investors for rest stops along the North-South Expressway and building temporary construction sites to serve the needs of traffic participants.

Nha Trang-Cam Lam section at Km33 and expressway entry/exit direction point at intersection DT765 on Phan Thiet-Dau Giay Expressway to Dai Phu rest stop and Ma Lam intersection Km208+700 on Vinh Hao Expressway- Phan Thiet go to Hien Huong rest stop.

Therefore, from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City with a length of about 400km, there are 5 rest stops/guided intersections (one station is being operated by VEC investor at Km41+100 on the Ho Chi Minh City – Ho Chi Minh City route). Long Thanh-Dau Giay, 3 temporary stations and expressway entry/exit points) with an average distance of 70-80km, arrange a rest stop/temporary station to ensure rest stops for vehicles participating in traffic on the road. gland.

In addition, the locations of rest stops and gas stations on routes connecting to the highway through intersections are for vehicles to know and can use temporarily in the near future.

For the Cam Lo-La Son route connecting Quang Tri with Thua Thien Hue with a length of about 98.3km, there are currently temporary stops at Km64+200 on the left of the route (area of ​​3,600m2) and Km77+800 on the right. The route (area of ​​4,200m2) ensures stopping for vehicles participating in traffic on the route.

Assessing that the legal regulations on investment in rest stops are complete, the Ministry of Transport has directed agencies and units to urgently organize bidding and select investors to ensure correct laws.

Accordingly, with 8 stops on the Eastern North-South Expressway in the period 2017-2020 (including Mai Son-National Highway 45; Nghi Son-Dien Chau; Dien Chau-Bai Vot; Nha Trang-Cam Lam; Cam Lam). Lam-Vinh Hao; Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet (2 stations); Phan Thiet-Dau Giay) have now released bidding documents, the Project Management Boards will open bids on May 20, with expected selection. Finish selecting investors in June 2024.


The Ministry of Transport will direct Project Management Boards to actively coordinate with localities to complete site clearance for construction of rest stops on the North-South Expressway.

When there is an investor, the Ministry of Transport will conduct negotiations with the winning investor to have measures to construct infrastructure and arrange temporary works to serve traffic participants in a short time. (maximum 2-3 months) to ensure that all component projects that have opened to traffic have temporary stops to serve people while accelerating the completion of public works items.

For the remaining rest stops on the North-South Expressway in the 2021-2025 period, the Ministry of Transport has directed agencies and units to urgently complete the appraisal and approval of project proposal information. project, closely coordinate to speed up the progress of site clearance, install piles for site clearance and hand over to the locality, complete the rest stops and put them into synchronous operation at the same time as completing the component projects. on the Eastern North-South Expressway according to the Prime Minister’s direction.

At a meeting to review the implementation of key projects taking place on April 23, Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang required the North-South Expressway Project for the 2021-2025 period to complete the contract. The most comprehensive set, from hardware and software infrastructure, especially rest stops; The investment must ensure that when the component projects are inaugurated and put into operation, they are eligible for immediate handover to the Vietnam Road Administration for management, operation and exploitation./.

Previously, the Ministry of Transport sent a document to the industry units, requesting the Vietnam Highway Administration to preside and coordinate with Project Management Boards to review each specific location. Locate temporary rest stops at appropriate distances, ensuring convenience and meeting the needs of people and vehicles participating in traffic on the route.

In addition, the Project Management Board also needs to deploy and organize the location of rest stops that have been partially handed over or convenient locations along the route to take advantage of the immediate arrangement of parking lots and public facilities.
