Arresting Vice Chairman of Long Xuyen City People’s Committee Dao Van Ngoc

On April 25, the Police Department of An Giang Province prosecuted, arrested and searched the residence and workplace of defendant Dao Van Ngoc – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province to investigate the case. Crimes “Violation of regulations on compensation, support, and resettlement when the State recovers land” and “Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences”.

The Police Department of An Giang Province also prosecuted the defendant, banned him from leaving his residence and searched the workplace of: Nguyen Thanh Tung (born 1980) – Officer of the Registration and Archives Team of the Land Registration Office Long Xuyen Branch; Nguyen Quang Minh (born 1977) – Officer of the Land Registration Office Long Xuyen Branch. These two defendants were prosecuted for the crime of “Lack of responsibility causing serious consequences”.

The above decisions and orders have been approved by the People’s Procuracy of An Giang province.

According to the investigation results, Mr. Dao Van Ngoc violated regulations on compensation, support, and resettlement when the State recovered land.

This defendant signed and approved a transfer contract to grant land in violation of Land Law regulations to Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, Nguyen Van Tiep, Nguyen Van Nup, Nguyen Tan Tai and Ms. Tran Thi Hong Hoa (both residing in An Giang province). – are people who are not eligible for resettlement.

Regarding the case, at the end of March 2024, the Police Department of An Giang Province prosecuted the defendants, arrested and searched the residence and workplace of the defendants: Nguyen Bao Sinh – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee Long Xuyen city, An Giang province; Nguyen Thanh Phong, officer of Long Xuyen City Land Fund Development Center; Nguyen Thien Thanh – officer of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Long Xuyen City and Huynh Le Phong – former Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Long Xuyen City were both charged with “Violating regulations on compensation, support, and resettlement when The state reclaims land.”
