Calum also heard about common scams such as being tricked into riding a cyclo, being lured into buying coconuts or taking photos. However, this tourist said he only had to politely refuse and the cyclo drivers let him go immediately.

“Everywhere in Vietnam there is noise from motorbikes. But I don’t feel overwhelmed (even though I am easily annoyed by noise). I just find it part of the charm of this place,” Calum shared.

People are not friendly? I don’t know where this rumor came from, but we found 99% of Vietnamese people to be really welcoming and friendly. They will wholeheartedly help you and are very proud to introduce you to their country,” he affirmed.

The last bad thing is littering. It is true that there are some problems with waste, Calum commented. However, this tourist noticed that mainly in the countryside, in all the places he went, Calum saw shop owners regularly cleaning their store fronts. The streets are also clean and he “doesn’t see anything worse than other countries”.

“Ignore the critics. Vietnam is a wonderful country and I can’t wait to go back,” Calum wrote.
