The Cam Lam – Vinh Hao Expressway connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Nha Trang opened to traffic on the morning of April 26, helping this journey to take 4-5 hours, nearly half the time compared to going on Highway 1.

From 7 a.m., many cars and trucks drove from the direction of Ho Chi Minh City to the Phan Thiet – Vinh Hao highway, arriving at the Vinh Hao intersection (Tuy Phong), instead of turning right onto Highway 1, they drove straight to the beginning of the Cam highway. Lam – Vinh Hao. At the starting point in the south, the project investor arranges staff to guide the flow of vehicles entering the expressway.

Mr. Ta Ngoc Tri, a freight truck driver from Dong Nai to Binh Dinh, said he was very emotional when he was able to travel on the route at the first time it opened to traffic. “Running smoothly on the highway is very convenient, reducing time and fuel costs,” Mr. Tri shared.

Vehicles carrying toxic, flammable substances, explosive materials, tractors, motorbikes, mopeds… are not allowed to enter. Vehicles traveling on the highway receive free holiday service from April 26 to May 1; Fee collection begins at 0:00 on May 2. Currently, the investor has not announced the fee on the route.

The investor said that the project inauguration ceremony was held at the north gate area of ​​Nui Vung Tunnel in Phuoc Ha commune, Thuan Nam district, Ninh Thuan province, on the afternoon of April 28. Currently, localities where the expressway passes through are asked to arrange personnel to coordinate with the project management board to guide traffic, monitor, and handle incidents…

Cam Lam – Vinh Hao Expressway is 78.5 km long, 17 m wide roadbed with 4 lanes without emergency stopping lanes but with emergency stops 4-5 km apart; Maximum speed 90 km/h. The project is invested in the form of corporate partnership (PPP) by a joint venture of Deo Ca Group, Deo Ca Construction Company and 194 Construction Investment Corporation, with a total investment capital of 8,925 billion VND.

The route passes through three provinces: Khanh Hoa (5 km), Ninh Thuan (63 km) and Binh Thuan (12 km), located between the two highways Nha Trang – Cam Lam and Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet. There are 34 bridges on the route, including: 22 highway bridges, 11 highway overpasses and one bridge connecting the highway with National Highway 1; along with the 2.25 km long tunnel through Vung Mountain.

This is also the last highway section connecting Saigon with Nha Trang, along with 4 previously completed highway sections, including: Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay, Dau Giay – Phan Thiet, Phan Thiet – Vinh Hao, Cam Lam – Nha Trang. Once cleared, the route helps shorten the time from Saigon to Nha Trang to only about 4-5 hours, halved compared to traveling on Highway 1.

Along the route, an ITS smart monitoring system with cameras using AI technology has been installed, capable of classifying vehicles, recognizing license plates, detecting and warning of incidents and traffic violations.

Yesterday, the investor also completed two temporary rest stops at the intersection of Provincial Road 709 in Nhi Ha commune, Thuan Nam district, Ninh Thuan province, to serve the urgent needs of road users during the April 30 holiday. , while waiting for the official stop.
