According to the indictment, during the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak (from June to September 2021), CDC Tien Giang was assigned additional funding of more than 31 billion VND to carry out epidemic prevention and control work and purchase equipment. , chemicals to perform testing.
Defendant Chon, in his leading role, directed the advance testing to use and legalize the bidding documents so that Viet A Company won the bid illegally and received the amount of 450 million VND.
Defendant Trieu Vuong Tuyen acted as an accomplice and directly legalized the entire bidding documents and received 420 million VND.
Defendant Vo Thanh Binh committed the crime as an assistant and received a fine of 375 million VND. Defendant Dang Minh Uy committed the crime as an assistant and received a sum of 782 million VND.
During the investigation, defendant Chon and his accomplices returned the above mentioned amount.
The Trial Council of the People’s Court of Tien Giang province commented that while the Government, local authorities at all levels, socio-political organizations, the entire society and the people are focusing on high compliance with human people and materials to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic, but the defendants did not fulfill their obligations and violated the law on preparing price determination documents and regulations on selecting and evaluating contractors, causing damage to the bank. Before the case was prosecuted, the defendants proactively handed over the money received from Viet A Trading – Production and Services Joint Stock Company to the police.
Since then, the Trial Council of the People’s Court of Tien Giang province decided to exempt the four defendants from punishment.
