Metro No. 1 runs automatically for the first time, welcoming special guests

On the morning of April 26, Ho Chi Minh City continued to organize 2 experience trips for the entire Metro line No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien). Attending was Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Bui Xuan Cuong. The special guests of this experience are the Consuls General of the countries in Ho Chi Minh City.

Before the train ran, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Bui Xuan Cuong introduced the Metro Line No. 1 project to the Consulate General of the countries in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong welcomed the Consuls General to visit and experience Metro Line No. 1. Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong said the large presence of foreign representative agencies in Ho Chi Minh City shows the great interest that international friends for Ho Chi Minh City’s first urban railway.

Also according to the Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, this event running the entire Metro Line No. Labor Economy.

Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong believes that experiences on Metro Line 1 will help Consuls General better understand the future development orientation of Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hien, Deputy Head of Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board, said this is the first time Metro No. 1 runs automatically. Accordingly, the train driver does not need to work, the train is prepared and operated entirely by automatic system.

Mr. Hien informed that to carry out this automatic test, the contractor mobilized 7 trains to run simultaneously from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day with an interval of about 10 minutes per trip. At each station, trains stop for 30 seconds and the platform gates will automatically open.

Along with the testing process is measurement and evaluation work to ensure safe integrated testing systems.

It is expected that the testing period for this mode will be about 2 weeks, after which the testing phase of integrating all systems of the project will begin.

Participating in the experience trip, Mr. Kho Ngee Seng Roy, Consul General of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City, felt the trip was very smooth and comfortable.

According to Mr. Kho Ngee Seng Roy, after being fully exploited, Metro Line 1 will completely change the urban landscape in Ho Chi Minh City.

Metro Line 1 will not only make the distance from the city center to Suoi Tien more convenient, but will also reduce the problem of traffic congestion that is causing pain in Ho Chi Minh City.
