(PLO) – Duong Hong Hieu (residing in Kien Giang) was prosecuted and detained for investigation on charges of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe on the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations, individual.

Noon April 26, Kien Giang Provincial Police said that, on the morning of the same day, the Provincial Police Investigation Police Department served the Decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the defendant, and order to temporarily detain the defendant Duong Hong Hieu (46 years old, residing in Rach Gia City).

Hieu was arrested for investigation on charges of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals (Article 331 of the Penal Code).

Initial information, from 2020 up to now, Hieu has used social network accounts named: “Duong Hong Hieu”, “Duong Hieu”, and “Phu Dung self-accused”.

From these accounts, Hieu has posted many untrue content, slander, distortion, insulting honor and dignity and seriously affecting the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Kien Giang province. and many other individuals in the Board of Directors.

Before that, Hieu had been invited to work many times by the authorities and pledged not to reoffend. However, after that, Hieu continued to perform the above mentioned actions, so he was prosecuted and arrested by Kien Giang Provincial Police.
