On the morning of April 26, the People’s Committee of District 8 (Ho Chi Minh City) held the inauguration ceremony of Ta Quang Buu Street. This is a work commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and unification of the country (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).
Attending the inauguration ceremony were Mr. Ngo Minh Chau – City Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee along with leaders of District 8 and related units.
Efforts to overcome difficulties of all levels of government
At the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Ngo Minh Chau – City Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee said that the project of road connecting Chanh Hung – Song Sang Canal (Ta Quang Buu street – PV) is a project of important significance. , celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and reunification of the country. Ta Quang Buu Street connects the wards. When completed, it will create conditions to promote economic and social development, creating favorable conditions for people to live and work.
“Over the past time, as everyone knows, to have this route is the tireless effort of leaders, local authorities, and people. It has been a dream of more than 20 years of People of District 8. Up to now, the road has been completed, more beautiful, more spacious, and more convenient for travel.
This is one of the important projects of the district, the project’s greatest success is the efforts and consensus of the local government and people. Through this, on behalf of the city leaders, I also request the investor to urgently organize the handover, exploitation and use of the project to achieve high efficiency” – Mr. Chau said.
Joining that atmosphere, Mr. Tran Thanh Tung – Chairman of District 8 People’s Committee shared that the Ta Quang Buu road project always receives the attention and direction of the City. Ta Quang Buu Street was completed thanks to the tireless efforts, day and night work of leaders at all levels, local authorities, and the help of the people.
“The completion of Ta Quang Buu Street will contribute to reducing congestion, sharing traffic pressure for Pham The Hien Street, and connecting and synchronizing regional traffic infrastructure. In addition, Ta Quang Buu Street is an intersection main traffic system, changing the face of urban district 8. Therefore, overcoming all difficulties, the city, district 8 and the people have joined hands to bring the project to the finish line” – Mr. Tung emphasized.
The dream project of the people of District 8
Representative of the Project Investment Management Board, Mr. Vuong Chi Hung, said that this section of Ta Quang Buu street previously had a small road surface width, no drainage system, and a situation where some people did their own business under the street. roadway.
Leading to serious deterioration of the road surface, often dusty in the sun, water stagnant and muddy in the rain. Although maintained, it cannot meet the increasing traffic demand and is not smooth. traffic safety is not guaranteed.
“Although this road section is not large in scale, it is a section in the middle of Ta Quang Buu road that is not yet clear. This road connects traffic to major roads of District 8 and areas such as the National Highway. Highway 50, Pham Hung, Cao Lo, Duong Ba Trac… with Nguyen Van Linh Avenue and the South City New Urban Area, so the complete investment in Ta Quang Buu Street, Ward 4 section helps traffic infrastructure. The area is synchronized according to planning” – Mr. Hung emphasized.
Regarding the scale of the adjusted section project, Mr. Hung said, the project is to build 462.14 m of urban road (from Pham Hung street to Vo Liem Son street) with a road surface width equivalent to at least 4 car lanes. bowl, asphalt concrete road surface, brick-lined sidewalk, 21 m wide road cross section (15 m wide road bed, 3 m wide sidewalk on each side). Construction of drainage systems, lighting systems, trees, traffic organization and a number of other technical infrastructure projects completed according to road level.
At the inauguration ceremony and technical opening of Ta Quang Buu Street, a large number of people were happy and gathered to see this route.
Waiting for more than 20 years, Mr. Tran Trong Phuc emotionally shared: “This route is the dream of many people on Ta Quang Buu street in particular and District 8 in general. The completion of the road is happiness and joy. our happiness, creating conditions for us to live, study, and develop economically.”
Immediately after the inauguration ceremony, people and vehicles were allowed to circulate on this route.
Ta Quang Buu Street is nearly 2 km long, connecting Pham Hung Street to Au Duong Lan Street, formerly known as the road connecting Chanh Hung – Rach Song Sang.
The project was started in 2001. After that, about 1.2 km of road (from Au Duong Lan street to Vo Liem Son) was completed.
Particularly, the road from Pham Hung street to Vo Liem Son street is blocked, waiting for project adjustment and construction has stopped since 2005.
After being suspended for nearly 20 years, in April 2023, the road was handed over and officially resumed construction.
To date, the project has been officially completed and opened to traffic.
