They eagerly waited for the time to get on the bus to go home to spend the holidays with their families.

Nguyen Tran Thao Linh, a student at the University of Finance and Marketing, said her hometown is more than 400 km away from school so she rarely goes home. During the holiday from April 30 to May 1 this year, with many days off, Thao Linh bought a ticket to return home to Khanh Hoa province earlier to avoid traffic jams and crowds at the bus station on peak days.

“Holidays are like Tet. It’s too much. I will take advantage of this time to hang out with my parents and friends,” Thao Linh said excitedly.

Do Minh Man, a student at Ho Chi Minh City International University, shared: “Today, I don’t have a class schedule, so I took the bus back to my hometown in Ninh Thuan province for the holidays early. Ticket prices remain the same as usual. My vacation lasted about 7 days. I will go on a trip with my family to Da Lat City (Lam Dong province) to avoid the heat.”

If I leave on the same day as announced by the school, I’m afraid I won’t be able to buy a bus ticket, so I asked to leave school today to get on the bus to go home to Gia Lai province.”

To save on travel costs, Nguyen Quang Vinh, a student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and his friend chose a motorbike as a means of transportation to return to his hometown in Binh Phuoc province for the holiday from April 30 to May 1. .

Quang Vinh said: “The weather is hot, walking is a bit difficult. Whenever I feel tired while driving, I stop on the side of the road to rest. If I feel better, I will continue. If we buy a bus ticket to return home, it costs me and my friend about 300,000 VND/trip, while riding a motorbike we only need to spend 150,000 VND on gas/turn.”

During the holiday from April 30 to May 1 this year, many universities give students an extended holiday to have time to have fun with family and friends. For example, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance has a holiday from April 28 to May 5 (8 days); Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology from April 30 – May 5 (6 days); Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade from April 27 – May 1 (5 days); Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry from April 27 – May 1 (5 days); University of Finance and Marketing from April 29 – May 12 (14 days).
