Thanh Loc was born in 1961, in a family with artistic tradition in Saigon. His father is People’s Artist Thanh Ton, a famous person in the field of opera. His mother is a female opera artist Huynh Mai. Both of Thanh Loc’s siblings, Bach Long and Bach Le, were also famous cai luong artists in the South during the 1970s to 1980s.

Thanh Loc began interacting with the stage at the age of 8, when he joined the dance team at the city’s Children’s House. After that, he joined the children’s drama department of the television station.

After graduating from the acting department at Ho Chi Minh City College of Theater and Cinema in 1982, Thanh Loc joined the Ho Chi Minh City Experimental Drama Club. Since 1997, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc has moved back to work at IDECAF Theater.

He and showman Huynh Anh Tuan founded Thai Duong Theater and Arts Company Limited (Idecaf) in April 2000. At that time, Idecaf was the only company in Vietnam specializing in staging plays specifically for children.

However, after 26 years of association, at the end of May 2023, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc announced to stop performing at the IDECAF stage because he could no longer find a common voice with the board of directors. This information immediately caught the public’s attention. Many audiences and colleagues felt sorry for Thanh Loc when he had to leave the place where he had devoted more than 2 decades.

However, despite major changes in his career in his late years, in September 2023, Thanh Loc set up a new stage named Thien Dang. When the stage lights were on, he received the support of many of his fans.

During Thanh Loc’s career, he has performed many roles that are considered “classics” of the city’s theater stage and Vietnam as well, such as the role of scholar Chu Chung in the play “Loi Vu” and the role of Mr. Tu in play “Da Co Hoai Lang,” and the role of Mr. Thien in “House Without Men” – a role that Thanh Loc is most fond of.

Regarding love affairs at the age of 63, Meritorious Artist Thanh Loc is still lonely. The male artist once shared that the first girl who made his heart flutter was a fellow member of the Youth team, but he did not dare to confess. After that, Thanh Loc continued to love unrequitedly a female colleague. This one-sided love lasted from 1986 to 1992.

Later, Thanh Loc revealed that he had experienced no less than 10 love relationships. And there were times when he lost his love, the male artist closed the door and cried alone: ​​”I once closed the door and cried like a child, cried out loud and then saw that my eyes were more beautiful, the tears made my eyes sparkle. more,” Thanh Loc shared on Vietnamnet.

Artist Thanh Loc said that with people he once loved, if he had the chance to meet again, he would be happy and consider each other as friends. And even though his love life was difficult, Thanh Loc never felt lonely. Choosing a life not bound to anyone, Thanh Loc also decided to donate his body after his death.
