Artist Phuong Binh, 82 years old, still drives 20km until 12 midnight every day, the meal makes everyone sad.

Recently, Youtuber Pham Truong Thanh visited artist Phuong Binh’s house. It is known that the male artist is currently 82 years old but has to live in a cramped house, with an area of ​​about 20 square meters, located deep in the suburbs of Saigon.

The house where artist Phuong Binh lives is quite cramped, temporary, and patched up. In some places, there are broken bricks and mortar, in other places there is iron roofing for the walls, the furniture is in disarray, the floor is sinking, and the rain leaks, making everyone feel sad.

Because the house was too small, there was only an old single bed, a hammock, and a shelf and cabinet. The coffee table is very small and can be used as a dining table.

Artist Phuong Binh has to cook and eat very frugally. When Pham Truong Thanh entered the kitchen and opened all the pots, he saw that they were all empty and had nothing. He sadly exclaimed: “Why is the pot so empty? Why is it full of cooking oil and nothing? How frugal!”.

Although cramped, artist Phuong Binh still has a guitar in his house, which he uses to play music. He shared: “I still sing at artist bars and some places to earn income.”

In addition, he also hung many certificates of merit and commemorative photos in his house.

Regarding his current life, artist Phuong Binh confided: “I have a wife, but my wife is currently working far away and hasn’t returned yet. Every evening, I have to run to the artist’s shop to sing, which is 20km from home. I only get home at 12 o’clock at night. Every day I have to drive 20km alone, in a shabby car.

The house I live in belongs to my son. He bought the land a long time ago but recently built the house and my husband and I moved in.

I’m 82 years old this year, and every night I run 20km back and forth to sing to make money.

Before, I didn’t go sing at artists’ bars, I just stayed at home and occasionally went to small shows, but staying at home a lot made me sad. Now I sing regularly every night at the artist’s shop.

In the past, I used to sing with My Chau and Mong Tuyen. Previously, I was an impresario for the Huong Bien troupe, went to Hanoi to perform and lived there for 18 years, but then it all disappeared. I had to sell all my houses to pay off my debt, I had nothing left.

At that time, I worked as a theater troupe director. Sometimes it rained for a whole week and I couldn’t perform. I didn’t have any money. I had to pick up water spinach to feed the artists.

Recently, I discovered a tumor in my back, but luckily it was benign, but it still caused a lot of pain and I couldn’t lie down because it hurt every time I lay down.”
