Over more than 50 years of working, Kim Phuong has played hundreds of roles on stage and screen. She nailed the character roles, fierce and somewhat thorny. The image of this role makes the audience impressed with her, even “hate” her in real life.

Kim Phuong said that people often called her by the wrong name with other female artists such as People’s Artist Hong Van, People’s Artist Kim Xuan, Hong Nga… At first, the artist felt sad and embarrassed because after all those years of acting she was still not remembered. However, over time, Kim Phuong comforted herself, seeing this as a recognition of the audience’s ability.

“People often say I’m familiar, I’m a famous name, but few people remember my name. I see this as motivation because making the audience remember your roles and be impressed with your performance is not easy. Looking back on my career, I am proud and have never had a moment of faltering,” she told VietNamNet.

Kim Phuong believes that making art is not only a passion but also a way to make a living. Even though she is not too burdened with food, clothing, and money, she still wants to work to have an economic life, not having to rely on her children.

Many years ago, she experienced many events when she lost her son and husband one after another. These are the two biggest pains in her life that she will never forget. She had a time when she was down and stuck until she picked herself up to continue living and be a fulcrum for her children.

Kim Phuong feels lucky because of her good health and appearance to be able to work. She keeps positive thoughts and doesn’t let negative things affect her.

“I don’t keep anything in my head for too long. With the joys and sorrows that have passed in my life, I try to put them away so I don’t have to think too hard. Thanks to that, my mind is relieved and I can comfortably live and do artistic activities,” she said.

In her late years, she was happy with a fulfilling life with her children and grandchildren. On days when he doesn’t go to the movies, the artist spends time at home resting and gathering with his family. When going through suffering, Kim Phuong calls this “precious simple happiness”.

“In youth, everyone has anger and resentment until life events help each person realize many things. Life is impermanent, so instead of competing little by little, I choose a gentle attitude to live for the rest of my life,” she confided.
