Suni Ha Linh: ‘I don’t worry about being compared to Chi Pu’

Suni Ha Linh is one of six international singers participating in the show Sisters step on the wind and turn the waves Season 5 with a cast of Chinese artists, airing on April 19. The singer talked about the challenges of the program and his career perspective.

– After practicing a solo round, how did you receive the compliments and criticisms from the audience?

– This was the first time I received a lot of attention at the same time, so it took me time to mentally adjust. I appreciate every opinion and suggestion from the audience because it is the motivation and lesson to help me improve more and more. However, when faced with negative comments, I understand the importance of protecting my personal space and mental health. Sometimes, malicious, non-constructive comments can have a great impact not only on me but also on my loved ones. Therefore, I learned how to eliminate negative energy and replace it with more faith in myself and my teammates.

– Why did you join the program?

– I received an invitation from the producer in December 2023. However, the crew took nearly two months to consider and exchange information with the program, before confirming their agreement before Lunar New Year.

After eight years of singing, this is both the right time and a great opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and express myself most clearly. Previously, everyone was familiar with the sweet and cute Suni Ha Linh. I’m over 30 years old, and it’s time to bring a more complete and new image to the audience.

In addition, I also realized that this would be an opportunity to approach and introduce myself to many audiences, step by step closer to my dream of performing the first concert in my career. Therefore, I am always in the mindset of “playing hard” for each performance.

– What do you say when a part of the audience compares Suni Ha Linh with Chi Pu – the successful face of the 2023 show?

– Chi Pu was very successful when participating in the program last season. It’s inevitable that people compare me and my colleagues. However, I have nothing to worry about. In fact, no singer is the same because everyone has their own personality, style, path and career development orientation. Therefore, all current comparisons are lame.

From the beginning, I determined that this was a journey for the audience to clearly see their own transformation. Therefore, my biggest pressure is to overcome past fears and phobias. I realize that comparing myself to others can easily affect my psychology. Instead, I look at myself to realize that I did better today than yesterday. In the program, each “billionaire” has its own strengths. I think just showing what’s true, just being yourself is the difference.

– What do you prepare for the competition?

– I never have a wandering mentality. In addition, my professional ethics do not allow me to take any stage lightly, no matter how big or small. Therefore, in addition to improving my singing and dancing, I also learned performance skills to deliver a performance that is both audible and visual. I learned Chinese when I was in school, so the communication process at the program was not difficult.

With performances, I always discuss with the crew and organizers to make appropriate choices at each time, as well as the story I want to convey. As in the first episode, I incorporated it, inspired by fairy tales Tam Cam. During the first meeting, many “billions” were impressed with my outfit. Through each activity, I have the opportunity to introduce Vietnamese culture to more people.

– Looking back at your career path before coming to Wind Pedal, what do you feel?

– Each person will have a different view of reputation. I am quite satisfied with my musical achievements and the love of the audience. Over the past eight years, there have been times when I have been so dependent on the decisions of those around me that I have forgotten who I really am or what I am striving for. Because of the fear of not being loved, I once made choices that were not in line with my nature. Through many failures in each stage of my career, I have learned that no one can please everyone and that all praise and criticism are an inevitable part of this profession.

I clearly remember the feeling of standing on the stage of “Pedal the Wind” for the first time, when hanging high or falling from a height of 10 meters, not afraid of anything, but on the contrary felt free and grateful. In that moment, I felt most like myself.

– How does your family support you on your artistic path?

– Previously, my parents did not support me even though my family had a tradition in the dance industry. They are afraid that I will work hard because they understand the nature of the profession. This has been a psychological barrier for me for many years. I work in a state of discomfort, not knowing how to enjoy the interesting things that work brings.

Later, when witnessing my daughter’s determination and achievements, my family changed their thinking and now supports me in many ways. I don’t want my parents to have to worry or worry too much because they are old, so I choose a serious career path to avoid scandals.

Lately, I’ve seen the joy of parents watching over their daughters Ride the wind. My mother clicked “like” and there was no shortage of information about her child on social networking sites. Dad also sent pictures and content to relatives’ groups for everyone to spread.
