With production and promotion costs estimated at up to 50 billion VND, “Fragile Flower” is facing the risk of becoming the sluggish Vietnamese film in the first half of this year, at the same time causing Mai Thu Huyen to suffer heavy losses.

This is not the first time Mai Thu Huyen failed in the film market. Previously, “Kieu” – another project produced and directed by her – also “sunk” with a revenue of 2.7 billion VND, far lower than the budget of 30 billion VND.

At the time of its release, the work was criticized as a “disaster” with an immature script, stiff and lackluster acting by the actors, crudely executed sex scenes… destroying Nguyen Du’s classic original work.

Explaining the reason for the movie’s lack of tickets, Mai Thu Huyen once cried and lamented that her work was being forced to screen in her hometown. However, at both times, there were screenings at good times that only sold 1-2 tickets per theater, and some theaters were even empty.
