Now, if we talk about singing Cai Luong but only singing Vong Co, it is not enough. We need reform. For example, a Vong Co verse can be combined with new music and singing to make it flexible and beautiful,” said People’s Artist Trong Phuc.

People’s Artist Trong Phuc said that his move to become a Cai Luong actor was very accidental. The artist jokingly calls this a “hip job”. The singer born in 1971 did not study Cai Luong professionally, but had talent from a young age. People’s Artist Trong Phuc also believes that the Craft Patriarch chose him.

The male artist recalled: “In 2002, there was a competition for the Delta Theater Festival, and I accepted the invitation to participate in the play. Dancing with the devil, created by People’s Artist Doan Hoang Giang. When I returned to Can Tho for the exam, many colleagues asked me who to cheer for and which team to support. I said go cheer for the Tran Huu Trang Cai Luong Theater. When I stepped up to compete for the main role, everyone burst into tears and enthusiastically supported me. That year, I won a gold medal, then continuously received leading roles after that.”

Trong Phuc emphasized that to pursue a career, you must turn what you learn from your seniors into your own “capital”, not copy the original. The singer born in 1971 confided: “When I listen to an artist sing, I will list the best ones, then choose to learn from them. I also jokingly call it “stealing”. I’m a double, but I have to learn a little from the youngest mother Bach Lan, the third aunt Bach Tuyet, the mother Ngoc Giau, the second aunt Dieu Hien, the second aunt Le Thuy… I take the essence but don’t collect it all because I will accidentally turn myself into a copy. . If so, the audience wouldn’t need to listen to me sing anymore.”

People’s Artist Trong Phuc also had the opportunity to review memories with the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh – his predecessor and the person who gave him many impressions and experiences on stage. People’s Artist Trong Phuc has played many dual leading roles in reformed operas. However, when acting with Meritorious Artist Vu Linh, he had to play a supporting role.

“The image of Mr. Vu Linh in me is always very big. He is a senior, a teacher, a monument. Even on stage, when he was singing off stage, I stood in the wings watching to learn every step, expression… Filming a video with him was an even better opportunity to learn. At that time, I thought that playing with him would be a double role, any role would be fine. He once wondered why I kept looking at him, so I replied: If he sings well, I’ll watch it, but if he sings bad, I won’t watch it. I watch to learn from you,” People’s Artist Trong Phuc recounted.
