According to the Government’s new decree, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reduced 4 general departments compared to the current organizational structure, leaving only the General Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

On September 22, the Government issued a decree defining the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. Four general departments are no longer in the structure of the ministry, including: Land management; Geology and Minerals of Vietnam; Environment; Seas and Islands of Vietnam.

The General Department of Land Management is divided into three units, namely the Department of Land Registration and Data; Department of Planning and Development of Land Resources; Land Department. The General Department of Geology and Minerals of Vietnam is divided into two departments: Vietnam Geology; Vietnam Minerals.

The Vietnam Environment Administration is divided into three units, which are the Environmental Pollution Control Department; Department of Nature Conservation and Biodiversity; Environment Department. The General Department of Seas and Islands of Vietnam changed to the Department of Seas and Islands of Vietnam.

Department-level units remain unchanged, including: Surveying, mapping and geographical information of Vietnam; Climate Change; Water resource management; National remote sensing; Information Technology and Environmental Resource Data (renamed Digital Transformation and Environmental Resource Data Information).

Thus, from 5 General Departments and 5 Departments, after arrangement, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has one General Department and 12 Departments. The four General Departments of Seas and Islands of Vietnam, Vietnam Geology and Minerals, Environment, and Land Management continue to operate until the Minister promulgates regulations on the functions, tasks and powers of the departments. newly formed service.
