On the evening of November 21, at the Cultural Center of Tra Vinh province, the Provincial People’s Committee held the opening ceremony of the Culture, Tourism Week – Southern Cuisine Festival associated with the 2023 Ok Om Bok Festival.
Ok Om Bok is a traditional festival of the Khmer ethnic group, which has been included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tra Vinh province Le Thanh Binh said that the Southern Culture, Tourism and Cuisine Festival Week associated with the 2023 Ok Om Bok Festival was organized by Tra Vinh province. organization to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere among the people; create a useful activity space for people to participate and experience, contributing to increasing labor productivity and fulfilling socio-economic development targets in 2023.
The activity also aims to preserve and promote the value of Cultural Heritage of ethnic minorities in general, and Khmer people in particular in the area; contributing to preserving, building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture rich in national identity.
This year, the Provincial People’s Committee organized the Culture, Tourism Week – Southern Cuisine Festival associated with the Ok Om Bok Festival on a provincial scale, expanding to provinces and cities in the River Delta region.
