On the evening of November 21, at Lam Vien Square, Da Lat city, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People’s Committee of Lam Dong province to organize the opening ceremony of the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival.
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Representatives of central departments, ministries and branches along with hundreds of directors, actors, filmmakers of 147 participating films and thousands of tourists and film-loving public in Da Lat city.
The stage of the Opening Ceremony was covered with a red carpet shining on both sides of Da Lat’s typical works, the giant wild sunflowers and artichokes made of glass, reflecting sparkling light on Lam Vien Square.

In particular, during the film festival, the Organizing Committee screened 91 films under the Contest Film Program and 56 films under the Panorama Film Program for free for residents and visitors to enjoy in theaters. Shown in Da Lat city and Duc Trong district.

The 23rd Vietnam Film Festival has 91 works selected for the Contest Film Program including: 16 feature films, 31 documentaries, 19 science films, 25 animated films.
The Panorama Film Program has 56 selected films including: 14 feature films, 20 documentaries, 4 science films, 18 animated films.
For contest entries, the Organizing Committee will award Golden Lotus, Silver Lotus, and Jury awards for the categories of feature films, documentaries, scientific films, animated films, and prizes. Outstanding Cinematography for a feature film.
For individuals, the Organizing Committee will award awards for Outstanding Director, Outstanding Screenwriter, Outstanding First Feature Film Director, Outstanding Cinematography, Outstanding Leading Actress, Leading Actor. Outstanding, Outstanding Supporting Actress, Outstanding Supporting Actor, Outstanding Artist, Outstanding Music, Outstanding Sound.
In addition, the Film Festival also has audience votes for the most popular films (for films participating in the Panorama Film Program), awards from social agencies and organizations.
