On April 24, Ms. Pham Thi Hue, Ward 9, Ca Mau City, said her family was very worried about this information. “I run a small business, and there is no water in the middle of this hot and dry season, so where can I get it for cooking and living? Hearing the information, I was very worried,” Ms. Hue said.

Ms. Hue said that information that the water supply company will stop providing water for 3-4 consecutive days is being spread on social networks. We don’t know what the truth is, but everyone is worried.

On April 24, Mr. Pham Phuoc Tai – General Director of Ca Mau Water Supply Joint Stock Company – affirmed: “This inaccurate information is being spread by word of mouth to many people, causing confusion. Cases such as system maintenance pipeline system, the water must be turned off for a few hours (if any), we will notify the local area on loudspeakers so people can proactively prepare water storage tools. For now, the company is still operating normal movement”.

Mr. Tai also informed that, in response to these rumors, on April 23, the company issued a notice on ensuring safe and continuous water supply to serve the people to communes, wards, towns, and People’s Committees of the provinces. The district and city affirmed that this was inaccurate information, the company still provided safe and continuous clean water to the people.

The notice also stated clearly: “The company hopes that local authorities at all levels, agencies and unions, will coordinate to support the company and widely propagate to let people know, and at the same time, there should be sanctions and sanctions. Be very serious when detecting subjects spreading fake news.”

According to Mr. Tai, currently, due to extreme weather events and intense heat, in some specific areas affected by salinity in the province, there is a shortage of water for daily use. Recently, the company has coordinated with departments, branches and organizations to bring drinking water to support people in dry areas.

Particularly for Ca Mau city, during peak hours or holidays, people’s demand for water increases suddenly in some downstream areas (located far from water supply pumping stations). Locally weak water conditions occur in a short period of time. However, these problems do not have too much of an impact, currently the unit is still operating normally, ensuring people’s daily water needs.
