Lang Son Newspaper celebrates 60 years of publishing its first issue

On the morning of April 24, Lang Son Newspaper solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Lang Son Newspaper publishing its first issue (May 1, 1964 – May 1, 2024).

Attending the celebration on the Central side were comrade Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Press Department, Ministry of Information and Communications.

On the side of Lang Son province, there were comrades: Hoang Van Nghiem, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Duong Xuan Huyen, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; former provincial leaders; Comrades, members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of the Provincial People’s Council, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of departments, branches, agencies, and organizations of the province; Standing members of District and City Party Committees; Provincial Business Association, Central press agencies residing in the area; leaders of 18 Party newspapers in the region; former leaders, officers, and employees of Lang Son Newspaper through the ages.

60 years ago, on May 1, 1964, from its predecessor, Lang Son News, the first issue of Lang Son Newspaper was launched to the Party Committee and people in the province. The newspaper consists of 4 pages of 27×39 cm size, published every 5 days. This is the first important milestone in the 60-year journey of construction and development of Lang Son Newspaper. Overcoming difficulties and shortages, the staff and reporters of Lang Son Newspaper with enthusiasm, creative intelligence, actively go to the grassroots, closely follow life, revolutionary movements, love emulation country to propagate, reflect, and promptly mobilize our army and people to work, produce, fight, and create heroic historical victories.

Through historical journeys, Lang Son Newspaper gradually matured, blending with the rhythm of the country’s press. From the initial 5 officers and reporters, up to now, Lang Son Newspaper has over 50 officers, reporters, officials, and workers. From 2000 up to now, Lang Son Newspaper has made many innovations, improving the quality of content and form; Increase the number of circulation and the number of newspaper publications per week. Currently, Lang Son Newspaper publishes 5 times/week with a circulation of about 1.9 million copies/year; From August 2018 until now, Lang Son Electronic Newspaper has made great progress with three versions: Vietnamese, English and Chinese and expanded public access channels on social networking platforms such as Zalo, Facebook. Thereby meeting the increasing demand for diverse, rich, responsive, and convenient information of the public as well as promoting the image, potential, and strengths of Lang Son province via the Internet.

Implementing the Project “Building and developing a modern Lang Son Newspaper until 2025” approved by the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Lang Son Newspaper is gradually organizing its editorial office according to the convergence model; Promote operational activities and newspaper publishing processes based on the application of modern information technology; Focus on building a team of officials, reporters, editors, and technicians with strong political will, professional expertise, and meeting the requirements of political tasks in the new period.

Along with professional activities, Lang Son Newspaper also actively participates in charitable social activities, coordinating with Party newspapers in the provinces to organize for young people to participate in resource-returning activities, repay gratitude, and support households. poor, give gifts to policy families; mobilize, donate, act as a bridge, and support a number of communes in the province to build new rural areas…

With outstanding achievements in 60 years of construction and development, Lang Son Newspaper is honored to be awarded many noble awards from the Party and State such as: Second-class Labor Medal, Third-class Labor Medal; received many worthy awards from the Provincial People’s Committee, ministries, branches, agencies and units.

At the program, leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, and Provincial People’s Committee; The Vietnam Journalists Association, the Provincial Party Committee Propaganda Department and leaders of Lang Son Newspaper performed the ceremony of pressing the button to launch the new interface of the electronic Lang Son Newspaper – This is a step forward, marking the development of Lang Son Hoa Newspaper. in line with the trends of modern journalism.

On this occasion, Chairman of Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 1 group and 6 individuals; Editor-in-Chief of Lang Son Newspaper awarded certificates of merit to 2 collectives and 8 individuals for outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Lang Son Newspaper’s first issue (May 1, 1964). – May 1, 2024).
