Domestic pepper price today

Today’s pepper price on April 24, 2024, in the Central Highlands and Southeast regions, mostly remains the same as the old price, only Gia Lai and Dak Nong increased slightly by 500 VND/kg.

Specifically, in the Central Highlands region, Dak Lak pepper prices continued to stabilize compared to yesterday at 98,000 VND/kg; Chu Se pepper price (Gia Lai) compared to yesterday increased slightly by 500 VND/kg to reach 97,500 VND/kg, Dak Nong pepper price today also increased by 500 VND/kg to reach 97,500 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, pepper prices today are still flat. Accordingly, pepper prices in Ba Ria – Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc pepper prices remained at 98,000 VND/kg, equal to the pepper prices in these localities yesterday.

Thus, today’s pepper price basically remains the same, remaining stable at the highest level of 98,000 VND/kg.

Recently, domestic pepper prices have continuously increased sharply due to limited supply. Prolonged hot weather will affect harvest output. Normally after harvest, pepper plants are often exhausted, coinciding with the dry season, so the possibility of fungus and disease is high, thereby affecting productivity and output of the next crop.

Besides, currently in many localities the harvest has basically ended but sales are not too much. Farmers have the mentality of keeping goods in the context of coffee and other agricultural products increasing in price.

According to preliminary statistics of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first 15 days of April 2024, Vietnam exported 13,456 tons of pepper, black pepper reached 12,269 tons, white pepper reached 1,187 tons. Total export turnover reached 62.3 million USD.

Besides, Vietnam imported 2,323 tons, total import turnover reached 8.7 million USD. Olam Vietnam is the largest importer, accounting for 61.5% reaching 1,429 tons. Brazil, Cambodia and Indonesia are the three countries that mainly supply pepper to Vietnam, reaching 992 tons, 941 tons and 352 tons respectively.

World pepper prices today

Updated world pepper prices from the International Pepper Association (IPC), at dawn this morning (Vietnam time), Indonesian pepper prices slipped slightly compared to yesterday; Brazilian pepper prices remained stable compared to yesterday, while Malaysia’s prices continued to level off. Listed Vietnamese pepper prices also continued to move sideways for a long time.

Specifically, the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) today was traded at 4,572 USD/ton, down 0.13%; White pepper price (Indonesia) was traded at 6,038 USD/ton, down 0.13%.

Brazilian black pepper price ASTA 570 today stood still at 4,450 USD/ton.

Malaysian ASTA black pepper price remains at 4,900 USD/ton; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is still at 7,300 USD/ton.

The prices of Vietnamese pepper listed today remain stable. In particular, the price of Vietnamese black pepper type 500 g/l today is trading at 4,200 USD/ton; with 550 g/l type trading at 4,300 USD/ton; ASTA white pepper price is trading at 6,000 USD/ton.

Pepper prices of all kinds on Kochi (India) today continue to be at par with yesterday. In particular, Garbled type traded at 57,700 Rupees/100kg, UnGarbled type at 55,700 Rupees/100kg.

From the beginning of March 2024 onwards, on the international floor, pepper prices in Indonesia, Brazil, and Vietnam fluctuated quite strongly.

In particular, the price of Indonesian black pepper increased quite sharply from 3,891 USD/ton, to 4,391 USD/ton. The price of Indonesian white pepper inched up from 6,135 USD/ton, to 6,179 USD/ton. IPC also increased the price of Brazilian pepper by 100 USD/ton and kept the export price of Malaysian pepper unchanged.

Prices of Vietnamese pepper of all kinds listed on international exchanges last month had only one sharp increase (March 21). In particular, the price of Vietnamese black pepper type 500 g/ was traded at 4,200 USD/ton, an increase of 2.38%; with the 550 g/l type trading at 4,300 USD/ton, up 2.33%; ASTA white pepper price traded at 6,000 USD/ton, up 1.67%.
