At about 6:10 a.m. on April 24, Mr. Phan Thanh Minh, 66 years old, drove a 5-seat car with Ha Tinh license plate carrying 4 people on provincial road 547 in the West – East direction, from Ha Tinh city to Loc Ha district.

When arriving at the intersection in Ho Do commune, Loc Ha district, the 5-seater car was hit by a truck with Dong Nai license plate driven by driver Nguyen Viet Ky, running on Highway 15B heading South – North. The car was pushed dozens of meters and stopped at the edge of the road.

The accident killed Ms. Nguyen Thi Tinh, 64 years old, residing in Ha Tinh City, sitting in the back seat of the car. The remaining four people in the car were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. The truck driver suffered minor scratches and was dizzy.

At the scene, the 5-seater car’s right body was deformed and the glass was broken. The truck’s front was severely damaged. Debris from the two vehicles broke out, leaving many oil stains on the road.

The intersection where the accident occurred is more than 10 meters wide, there are traffic lights on all four sides, and surrounded by residential houses. There was little traffic at the time of the accident. Loc Ha district police sent officers to direct traffic.

According to the authorities, the driver of a 5-seat car did not pay attention to give way to vehicles on the priority road. The truck driver also did not slow down and did not pay attention when passing through the intersection, leading to an accident.
