Tran Yen district Fatherland Front promotes its role in hunger eradication and poverty reduction

In 2022, Mr. Than Van Bac’s family in Cay Si village, Van Hoi commune received 20 million VND from the Fatherland Front Committee at all levels to develop a snail farming model. He also borrowed an additional 40 million VND to rent more than 3 acres of fields to develop the model. Raising snails was convenient. In the first year, he had an income of 140 million VND from selling eggs, seed snails and meat snails. From the accumulated money, he continued to rent 2 more acres of fields to raise commercial snails, earning an income of nearly 200 million VND/year. Therefore, at the end of 2023, Mr. Bac’s family was recognized as escaping poverty.

Mr. Bac shared: “My family is poor, thanks to the support from the Fatherland Front Committee at all levels to buy snail seeds and receive technical training, which I have applied to develop snail farming fields, bringing in income. stability, helping families escape poverty.”

Together with Mr. Bac’s family, in the past 3 years, the Fatherland Front Committee of Van Hoi commune has also supported 4 models of stuffed snail farming and 3 models of pig farming with a scale of 50 heads/model for poor households from the Target Program. national goal of sustainable poverty reduction. Every year, the Commune Fatherland Front also proactively develops plans to review and compile statistics on the current situation of the number of poor households in the locality, and at the same time classify poor households, clearly identify the causes of poverty, and the needs of each household and group of households. to have specific help measures for each household.

Mr. Mai Quang Tien – Chairman of Van Hoi Commune People’s Committee said: “The Fatherland Front and mass organizations have actively participated in the movement to socialize poverty reduction activities and mobilize people to help each other develop the economy. The Fatherland Front The commune has also coordinated with departments and branches to organize activities such as: loan support, organizing vocational training classes, creating new jobs, mobilizing participation in labor export… Over the past 5 years, the Fatherland Front Committee The commune has supported dozens of households to escape poverty, contributing to reducing the number of poor households in the entire commune to 16 households, accounting for 2.41%.

Along with Van Hoi commune, a locality with nearly 90% of Mong and Tay people in extremely difficult situations, in recent years, Hong Ca commune has mobilized the participation of the entire political system, especially promoting the role of the Fatherland Front Committee and member organizations in poverty reduction work. “The commune has integrated provincial and district programs to support new housing for poor households, diversify livelihoods to help the poor, and develop concentrated commodity production along the value chain. At the same time, Hong Ca also focuses on vocational training and labor transformation associated with creating jobs for rural workers. Currently, the commune’s poverty rate has decreased to 5.72%, a decrease of over 12% compared to 2019. ” – said Mr. Chang A Sai, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Hong Ca commune.

Over the past 5 years, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tran Yen district has regularly coordinated and extensively propagated to all classes of people the Party and State’s guidelines and policies on poverty reduction; mobilize to build the Fund for the Poor, especially in the peak month “For the Poor”; promote the core role of member organizations such as the Youth Union, Veterans Association, Farmers Association, Union Association Women at all levels in propaganda, advocacy and support for poverty eradication.

From the commercial snail farming model, Mr. Than Van Bac, Cay Si village, Van Hoi commune, escaped poverty.

Many forms of help have been effectively implemented by the Fatherland Front and its member organizations such as: donating plants and animals, helping to build and repair houses, supporting loans, lending capital to invest in production, livestock farming… In 5 years, the Fatherland Front Committee of Tran Yen district has supported 46 livelihood models to help poor households escape poverty sustainably, and mobilized to build the “For the Poor” Fund at district and commune levels for nearly 7 billion VND, supporting 172 Dai Solidarity houses to build new and repair… Thereby, contributing to reducing the rate of poor households in Tran Yen district to 1.75%, down 3% compared to 2019 and reaching the income level per capita is nearly 54.6 million VND/year.
