In April 2004, the Provincial People’s Committee issued Decision No. 2570/2004/QD-UB on the establishment of Ben Tre Mental Hospital, with the goal of providing the best mental health care for each person. In June 2009, the hospital officially went into operation, with about 50 staff. The proportion of officials with postgraduate degrees accounts for 1%, university degrees account for 14%, and the remainder have intermediate and elementary degrees. At that time, on average each day, the hospital only attracted more than 40 inpatients for treatment and nearly 100 patient visits.

During the development process, overcoming initial difficulties in personnel, the hospital has strived to perform well its examination and treatment tasks. In particular, the hospital focuses on developing high-quality human resources. In 2023, the hospital will grow with a total of 107 employees. The proportion of medical staff with postgraduate qualifications increased, accounting for 28.4%, 52% with university degrees, and nearly 19% with college degrees.

Director of Ben Tre Mental Hospital Tran Ngoc Nhan said: “To achieve quality labor, the hospital focuses on promoting human resource development. In particular, much attention is paid to training, not only sending postgraduate and university professional training but also advanced and intermediate political theory training. In addition, the hospital also provides training, education and training continuously with more than 1,000 visits.

With a fairly solid human resource, the hospital has continuously improved the quality of medical examination and treatment over the years. Paying attention to developing technical expertise, exploiting advanced techniques in diagnosis and treatment, organizing many trips to study psychiatric management models in the community, intensive pharmacological treatment, and application of the model multimodal… in countries such as Thailand, India, Taiwan…

Currently, the hospital performs most of the level 1 and level 2 specialized technical services; deployed 55/84 specialized technical services. Undeveloped techniques fall within clinical psychology and rehabilitation activities. In professional activities, the hospital has 3 main areas: multimodal inpatient treatment (chemotherapy, psychotherapy, rehabilitation, nursing care), outpatient non-drug intervention, and non-pharmacological outpatient care. Community-based mental health care. In 2024, the hospital will be ranked 2nd, ranked first among 6 provincial hospitals.

Improve the quality of medical examination and treatment

In addition, the hospital also pays attention to movement activities of unions, associations and volunteer activities to bring good mental values ​​to officers, employees, workers as well as treated patients. at the hospital. Coordinate and organize communication and social work activities to mobilize resources and create a mental rehabilitation environment for patients. Through the process of treatment, care and management of inpatients, outpatients, the community, the hospital coordinates well in communication work, improving the community’s understanding of mental illness. From there, it contributes to reducing stigma and alienation for mental patients. Patients can easily integrate into society after treatment and are less likely to relapse.

Ms. LTX (Phu Nhuan commune, Ben Tre city) unfortunately has a child with delayed language development and uncontrolled behavior.
