After 3 years of implementing the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, Thua Thien Hue has achieved many positive results. The poverty rate has decreased continuously over the years: from 4.93% in 2021 to 2.27% in 2023, an average annual decrease of 1.33%, reaching and exceeding the annual plan target.

Particularly in the mountainous district of A Luoi, the rate of poor households will decrease from 49.98% in 2021 to 24.3% at the end of 2023, an average decrease of 8.56%/year, exceeding the target according to Decision No. 90 of the Prime Minister. proposed by the Prime Minister (an annual reduction of 4-5%). Currently, through reviewing the criteria and evaluating the indicator system to identify and score poor districts, A Luoi district ensures the conditions to escape the national poor district. Thua Thien Hue province is developing a project to submit to ministries and branches for appraisal and the Government for consideration and decision.

In the period 2021-2025, Thua Thien Hue province has 7 communes with extremely difficult coastal areas. Up to now, 3 communes have escaped the extremely difficult situation and met new rural standards.
