On the morning of April 24, in Vinh city, the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province organized a meeting program for Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and civil servants. On Nghe An province’s side, there were comrades: Nguyen Van Thong – Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Hoang Nghia Hieu – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee: Nguyen Nam Dinh – Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Vo Thi Minh Sinh – Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; Ho Le Ngoc – Head of the Provincial Party Committee’s Internal Affairs Committee; Phan Duc Dong – Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee.

Also attending were representatives of leaders of departments, divisions, branches, districts, cities and towns and especially 150 delegates of Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline workers representing the elite children of Dien Bien. Nghe An’s homeland devoted its strength, flesh and blood to create the Dien Bien Phu Victory.

In the warm atmosphere of the meeting, delegates interacted with historical witnesses to review the heroic fighting years of the nation in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in the past. They are Mr. Nguyen Canh Thin, Ngo Xuan Quyen – Former soldiers of Dien Bien; Mr. Phan Ngoc Hoa – Former youth volunteer.

70 years ago, Nghe An was proud to be the solid rearguard in the Dien Bien Phu campaign “famous in five continents, shaking the earth”. In order to devote their efforts to serving the campaign, in just a short time, the people of Nghe An warehoused 1,460 tons of dried and cleaned rice; transporting 5,000 tons of food; 5,438 additional young men served the battlefields of the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

In addition, Nghe An youth volunteers stood side by side with the army and people across the country to overcome high passes, deep streams and enemy bombs to supply weapons, ammunition and food to the soldiers.

Memories of years of fierce war through the stories of soldiers and young volunteers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign brought to program attendees a variety of emotions mixed with pride.
