To be able to spend time doing what she loves, Huynh Tuyet Thu (33 years old) made a huge trade-off: Quitting her job as a tour guide in Ho Chi Minh City after many years of working to returned home to work in agriculture since 2014.

According to Tuyet Thu, the hustle and bustle of life with visible and invisible pressures in the city makes her feel increasingly tired. Above all, Thu wants to have a free life, without being constrained by a work schedule, so she can take the initiative in her time, go here and there, and do what she likes. This includes organizing and participating in charity activities.
10 years ago, Tuyet Thu left Saigon for her hometown and built a garden of nearly 2,000 square meters. From then on, she became a real farmer. Tuyet Thu proudly shares about her garden: “It’s difficult to list all the plants in my 10-year garden. Currently, the garden provides clean agricultural products for the family, we absolutely do not have to go to the market to buy vegetables and fruits.
At the same time, harvesting vegetables and fruits to sell also helps me earn income to cover my living. Taking care of plants is also a way for me to relax and find peace in my soul.”

Tuyet Thu pursues organic, green – clean – sustainable agriculture
The journey of starting a business with organic agriculture, building a “green fortune”.” of Tuyet Thu went through countless challenges and many lessons learned. Initially, because she didn’t have much capital, Tuyet Thu chose to start doing everything herself: “Previously, the whole garden was bare and gravelly. I spend a lot of time and effort collecting straw for the garden, buying organic fertilizer, finding more grasses, using vegetable waste… to regenerate the garden.
Determined to pursue green agriculture to have a clean, green living environment, I am patient with taking care of and improving the soil using organic methods and planting trees in the direction of forest gardens (agroforestry).
Initially, I didn’t have much financial resources. I only had a little money left over. I also built a small cafe by renovating my family’s warehouse. To save money, I did it all myself, took advantage of old shop decorations, and then started planting trees.”
