On April 24, the Office of the Police Investigation Agency, Dak Lak Provincial Police informed that it had just received and investigated to clarify the criminal case of Murder, which occurred in Thanh Cao village, Ea Tan commune, Krong Nang district.

According to the investigation, Tran Nam Thanh (born 2001) and Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Oanh (born 2002) are husband and wife. As of November 2023, Ms. Oanh was 8 months pregnant with her second child. While living together, Thanh often went out drinking late at night, so there were frequent conflicts and arguments between defendant Thanh and Ms. Oanh.

At around 1:30 p.m. on November 22, 2023, Ms. Oanh went to talk to Thanh, then the two sides had a conflict and quarrel. Annoyed, Thanh stood up, went to his motorbike and pulled gasoline from the motorbike into a plastic can.

After that, the subject fell on Ms. Oanh, Oanh ran away, Thanh chased after her, continued to throw gasoline on Ms. Oanh and then turned on the gas lighter to light it, then Thanh continued to throw gasoline on his wife.

At this time, fire began to burn from Ms. Oanh’s body onto the plastic can. Seeing that, Thanh threw the plastic can into the yard. Next, Thanh released water from the faucet to put out Ms. Oanh’s fire. After a while, the fire on Ms. Oanh’s body was extinguished.

Ms. Oanh was then taken to the hospital for emergency treatment. Ms. Oanh suffered severe burns on her legs, neck, face, and ears, accounting for 23% of the area, with an injury rate of 27%.
