Mechanization in farming in Dong Nai has had many achievements but is not synchronized. This province is aiming for synchronous mechanization in the near future.

Save a lot thanks to machinery and equipment

Established in May 2022, the Durian Cooperative Group (THT) of Hamlet 7 (Song Ray commune, Cam My district, Dong Nai) includes 23 farmer households specializing in durian production with a scale of nearly 34 hectares, of which more than 15 hectares have been granted a planting area code. The main products of the Cooperative Group are Dona durian and Ri6 durian, with an output of about 600 tons/year.

Since its inception, the THT Executive Board has been aware that promoting the application of mechanization in agricultural production is a very important issue, directly impacting crop productivity and reducing labor. , reduce production costs, increase economic efficiency, and increase people’s income. Therefore, the THT Executive Board has begun to mobilize members to increase the application of mechanization in production.

With that determination, in the past 2 years, durian production in THT Durian hamlet 7 has achieved a high level of mechanization. Specifically, up to now, the land preparation stage has been mechanized from 90 to 95% in digging tubs, clearing grass, and designing gardens. At the irrigation stage, 80% of the production area is irrigated with an economical watering system. During the care stage, 100% of THT’s area has been sprayed with plant protection chemicals by machine.

Mr. Tran Van Duc, Head of Durian THT Hamlet 7, said that in 2023, the THT Executive Board boldly contributed funds to equip a drone worth more than 400 million VND to serve agricultural production. businesses of group members and people in the area in need.

Through evaluation, drones help THT save labor and safety for producers because they do not have to come into direct contact with pesticides, save pesticides, and spray effectively to meet the requirements of farmers. gardeners without increased costs compared to using labor to spray pesticides in the traditional way. The device is easy to use and applicable in many different terrains.

High mechanization in many production stages

According to Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dong Nai has an agricultural land area of about 270,000 hectares. To date, the province’s farming industry has formed 300 concentrated production areas with a number of large perennial crops such as: 44,000 hectares of rubber, 30,000 hectares of cashew, 12,000 hectares of pepper, 7,000 hectares of coffee, 13,000 hectares of bananas. hectares, mango 12,000 hectares, grapefruit 10,300 hectares, rambutan 9,100 hectares, durian 11,000 hectares, jackfruit 9,000 hectares… These are favorable conditions to access new science and technology and apply mechanization to production.

Implementing the project to promote mechanization of agricultural production, creating motivation to restructure the agricultural sector of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the project “Promoting mechanization to reduce losses in agriculture until 2020, with a vision to 2030 creates motivation to restructure the agricultural sector in Dong Nai province” of Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee. In recent years, agricultural mechanization in Dong Nai province has achieved encouraging results.

Mechanization has contributed to improving labor productivity, reducing product loss, reducing the level of resource exploitation, contributing to the development of a circular economy in agriculture, gradually implementing automation and applying industrial technology. High technology in production.

Xuan Loc is one of the typical districts of mechanization in the farming sector of Dong Nai province. According to Xuan Loc District People’s Committee, by 2023, the entire district will have 769 machines used in land preparation, of which mainly small tractors of 714 CV or less. The rate of mechanization in land preparation reached 100% throughout the district.

For annual crops, the whole district has 5 seeding machines to ensure production needs in the area. At the irrigation stage, the entire Xuan Loc district has nearly 11 thousand irrigation machines with a total capacity of 90% of the planted area. Regarding plant protection, more than 98% of planted areas have used pesticide sprayers. With short-term crops such as rice and corn, nearly 100% of the harvesting stage has been mechanized…

According to Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, by 2023, in farming areas across the province with suitable terrain for mechanization, 100% of land preparation, irrigation and drainage stages will have been mechanized. There are 90,000 hectares of fruit trees, industrial trees, and vegetables using advanced irrigation systems combined with fertilization, some areas are controlled with automatic irrigation.

At the harvesting stage, 100% of rice and corn cultivation areas used combine harvesters to separate seeds and chop plants. Plant protection work in farming in Dong Nai has now reached 100% mechanization, with a small number of areas using aerial equipment to spray plant protection chemicals.

Towards synchronous mechanization

Although many achievements have been achieved, mechanization in the field of farming in Dong Nai still has many limitations.

A characteristic of Dong Nai’s natural conditions that limits the application of mechanization in the field of farming is that there are many large areas with exposed rocks and uneven terrain in the districts of Trang Bom, Thong Nhat, Dinh Quan and Tan Phu make mechanization in land preparation and transportation in these places difficult.

Besides, the production land area of farming households in Dong Nai is not large, on average only about 1 hectare/household. This has greatly limited investment in equipment to synchronously mechanize production stages.

Therefore, up to now, in many stages of farming, the rate of mechanization is still low, especially the planting stage of short-term crops; Harvesting, preliminary processing, and preservation are mostly done manually. Agricultural product processing lines at establishments are generally outdated, with only about 10% of establishments having advanced production lines.

Faced with that situation, in the coming time, Dong Nai will focus on implementing many solutions to promote mechanization, develop synchronous mechanization, move towards automation, and apply high technology in agricultural production. .

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the province will develop concentrated agricultural production areas according to the orientation of 3 product groups (national key products, provincial key products). and local specialty products). These areas are synchronously mechanized, ensuring adequate supply of raw materials and connection to agricultural processing zones and agricultural trade services.

In addition, Dong Nai is innovating and developing appropriate forms of production organization in the direction of improving the capacity and role of farmers’ cooperative organizations, promoting land concentration, and increasing the scale of production. tissue, thereby creating favorable conditions for applying mechanization and developing agricultural product processing.

Businesses will also be encouraged to make new investments and expand scale to ensure sufficient processing and preservation capacity for key commodity industries, associated with concentrated raw material production areas. Promote the implementation of credit policies to serve agricultural and rural development and support credit policies to develop agricultural mechanization and agricultural product processing…

Industrial and agricultural promotion policies will be researched and developed in a practical manner to support organizations and individuals doing business in agricultural mechanization services in Dong Nai province. At the same time, chains linking production – processing – consumption of agricultural products will be built and developed according to a synchronous mechanization model in concentrated agricultural production areas.
