The 8th meeting of the National Committee on digital transformation with a focus on discussing the digital economy. Currently, digital transformation work has achieved some outstanding results in terms of perfecting institutions and policies to promote digital transformation; The development and promulgation of digital transformation plans have received the attention of many ministries, branches and localities; There have been 14 ministries, branches and 52 localities promulgating a list of databases according to regulations (reaching a rate of 77%), 11 ministries, branches and 43 localities have issued a list of plans to provide open data (reaching a rate of 77%). rate of 64%), the national population database has been connected to 18 ministries, branches, 63 provinces, cities and 4 businesses; 80.2% of households use fiber optic broadband Internet, 100% of communes connect to fiber optic Internet, 4G broadband mobile network covers 99.8% of the population with stable quality; 80.44% of administrative procedures that qualify for the entire process are provided online; In 2023, the proportion of digital economy/GDP is estimated to reach 16.5% with a growth rate of 20%, 3 times higher than GDP growth…

Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that digital transformation has reached every alley, knocked on every house, searched every person and brought benefits to people and businesses. To date, the national digital transformation work has achieved many outstanding results. However, during the implementation process there are still shortcomings and limitations that need to be recognized and overcome. In developing the digital economy, it is necessary to closely follow the actual situation to realize the Party and State’s guidelines and policies; mobilize the participation of the entire political system, people and business community; Digital economic development is an objective requirement, a mandatory requirement for digital economic development is an objective requirement, a mandatory requirement for Vietnam’s socio-economic development… The Prime Minister requests ministries and branches , localities must have greater determination and drastic direction in implementing national digital transformation tasks. Prioritize resources, ensure completion of assigned tasks in the National Digital Transformation Program and 3 strategies: Digital Government development; on developing the digital economy and digital society; on digital data development. The Ministry of Information and Communications will soon complete and submit to the Prime Minister for promulgation the Strategy for Development of Vietnam’s semiconductor industry until 2030; preside and coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to urgently complete and report to the Government to submit to the National Assembly for approval of the Law on Digital Technology Industry; Complete and submit to the Government for promulgation decrees guiding the Law on Electronic Transactions (amended), the Law on Telecommunications (amended)… The Ministry of Public Security promotes the implementation of tasks of the Data Application Development Project on population, electronic identification and authentication serving national digital transformation in the period 2022 – 2025, vision to 2030; preside and coordinate with relevant agencies to urgently complete the dossier to request the development of the Law on Personal Data Protection and the Data Law to submit to the Government; continue to expand utilities on the VNeID application and research and propose to promulgate related legal regulations. Other ministries and branches base on their assigned functions and tasks to well carry out digital transformation work and plans; Localities closely coordinate with telecommunications enterprises to eliminate mobile signal depressions in villages that have access to national grid electricity, completed before December 2024; Continue to improve the quality of mobile broadband networks…
