(PLVN) – Determining food safety assurance is a key task and needs to focus on directing its implementation. Therefore, Vinh Phuc province has directed functional agencies to promote inspection, examination and supervision of food security and safety assurance to proactively protect the health and rights of consumers.

To do a good job of ensuring food safety, during the period from April 15 to May 15, the Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety of Vinh Phuc province coordinated with departments, branches, branches, and People’s Committees of provinces. Districts and cities focus on promoting propaganda, education, and dissemination of legal knowledge on food safety so that people, food production and business establishments properly understand and strictly comply with policies, laws on security and food safety.

At the same time, regularly organize training courses to improve knowledge and management skills for staff working in food safety and quality management. At the same time, promote appraisal, inspection, testing, and sampling to monitor food quality and safety; Sign a commitment to ensure food safety of production and business establishments.

On the other hand, Vinh Phuc province strengthens inspection and examination of compliance with food safety laws by organizations and individuals producing and trading food in the province during peak periods of the year; Strictly and promptly handle violations in food production and business.

In 2023, the authorities of Vinh Phuc province inspected nearly 850 production facilities and food trade groups. Thereby, 391 food production and business establishments and collective kitchens were discovered and fined for food safety violations, fined more than 1 billion VND; prosecuted 3 defendants for the act of producing and trading counterfeit food, foodstuffs, and food additives; destroyed more than 4 tons of expired food of unknown origin, quarantined nearly 9 tons of animal products.

Specialized units have taken nearly 1,450 samples of agricultural – forestry – fishery products, 2,800 samples of vegetables, tubers, fruits, sausages, and sausages at production and processing facilities to monitor food safety indicators. , discovered 5 samples of commercial freshwater fish with lead and bacteria levels exceeding allowable levels. In 2023, the whole province will only record 1 case of food poisoning, with no cases of serious complications or deaths due to food poisoning.

To build and develop safe food sources, along with supporting and developing links in production and product consumption, in 2023, the Agriculture sector of Vinh Phuc province has deployed support for farmers to produce nearly 1,760 hectares of safe vegetables and fruits following VietGAP direction; Supporting more than 30 farming, livestock, and aquaculture establishments to apply VietGAP processes in production; continue to maintain production conditions in 8 growing areas that have been granted codes with a total area of ​​73.4 hectares.

In the coming time, to ensure food safety in the new situation, Vinh Phuc province will promote inspection and supervision of food security and safety assurance; Focus on building safe and quality food supply value chains; Prioritize the development of specialized farming areas for clean and safe agricultural production.

At the same time, review and re-evaluate laboratories, add testing functions on food hygiene and safety, send staff to specialized training on food safety testing, and provide funding for inspection activities. Control, analyze and evaluate food safety and quality, and resolutely handle violations.
