(PLVN) – During recent hot days, the lives of many households in Vinh City (Nghe An) were turned upside down due to lack of water.

Mr. Tran Nam Tr (residing in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city) said that for about a week now, the tap water supply has been very weak and frequent dehydration has greatly affected family life. “My house’s tank water is rarely saved for drinking and cooking, but I use drilled well water for bathing and washing. Knowing that drilled well water is not guaranteed, but there is no other way,” Mr. Tr. speak.

Sharing the situation of lack of domestic water, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc A. (Le Loi ward) reflected: “For about 4 months now, for some unknown reason, water has been regularly lost, or it is weak and cannot be pumped to the tank.” .

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Th (Doi Cung ward), from April 20 to April 22, there was “no drop of water” in his house’s overhead tank. He called the Nghe An water plant’s switchboard, the factory workers came down to check and said they had to install a pump because the water was weak and didn’t have enough pressure to push it to the 2nd floor. “I had to install a pump, which cost 3.5 million. I just pumped it into the tank,” Mr. Th said.

Regarding the cause of water weakness and water loss, information from Nghe An Water Plant is because the water source from 3 plants is not enough to meet the needs of customers. Currently, the water supply system in Vinh and the surrounding area includes 3 factories (Hung Vinh, Hung Nguyen, Cau Bach) with a design capacity of 94,000m3/day and night. In 2023, the actual capacity to provide clean water to 110,297 customers will reach 70,811m3/day and night on average. In April 2024, Vinh City and surrounding areas need to supplement about 30,000m3/day and night.

Ms. Le Thi Hang, Vinh Tan Ward, Vinh City reflected that the tap water has been very weak recently.

In addition to the increasing demand for water from customers exceeding the design capacity of the plant, there are other reasons leading to dehydration and lack of water for people’s daily use: Because the plants have been in use for too long, leading to pipeline deterioration and damage to some items. Specifically, Cau Bach Water Plant was invested, built and put into use in 2014. The entire level I pipeline system has a length of 30,559m, using glass fiber reinforced composite pipes. Currently, this entire system has been degraded, soaked in water, and cannot withstand pressure. As for Hung Vinh Water Plant, which has been operating for more than 20 years, there are 6 filter tanks, but 3 tanks collapsed, the concrete floor supporting the filter material cannot be repaired…

Talking with Newspaper reporters Law of VietnamMr. Hoang Van Hai – General Director of Nghe An Water Supply Company said that when receiving customer feedback, the company will assign staff to immediately check and make pressure adjustments to ensure customers do not dehydrated.

“The company sincerely apologizes to customers for allowing the current water shortage to occur,” General Director of Nghe An Water Supply Company expressed and added: “Regarding measures to overcome weak water, in the immediate future, The company focuses on adjusting pressure in areas near the factory to increase pressure in remote areas, ensuring water can flow into underground tanks. For high tanks, customers must install transfer pumps Recommend customers to use water economically.

Also according to Mr. Hoang Van Hai, the solutions of installing pumps, using water economically… are only temporary measures. In the long term, the Company is focusing on completing design documents and applying for an investment license to expand the water treatment plant capacity by 50,000m3/day and night. Striving to start construction in early 2025 and put it into use in 2026.
