In Lang Son, border trade activities are also vibrant. According to statistics from Lang Son Customs Department, in the first quarter of 2024, the turnover of opening declarations at the Department reached over 1 billion USD, an increase of 27.3% compared to the same period in 2023. The total turnover of import and export goods of all type is estimated to reach over 13.1 billion USD, an increase of 30.7% over the same period in 2023.

Of which, fresh fruit exports reached nearly 1 million tons, an increase of more than 61% over the same period in 2023. The main products are dragon fruit, durian, watermelon, mango, jackfruit… exported via Tan Thanh border gate and Huu Nghi international border gate.

Only in the first half of April 2024, the output of fresh fruit exported through Lang Son border gates has reached more than 200 thousand tons, the volume of vehicles clearing customs through Huu Nghi international border gate in the first quarter of 2024 reached 52,139 vehicles. , an increase of 26.5% over the same period in 2023. Total import-export turnover of all types reaches about 12.7 billion USD.

From a broader perspective, according to the latest summary from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, by the end of the first quarter of 2024, export and import activities to the Chinese market continued to recover positively.

Of which, Vietnam’s export turnover to China is estimated at 12.68 billion USD, up 5.2%, ranking second after the US. In the opposite direction, import turnover from China is estimated at 29.4 billion USD, up 24.4% over the same period last year. China continues to be Vietnam’s largest import market.

In 2023, the total export and import turnover of Vietnam – China will reach approximately 171.2 billion USD, accounting for more than 25% of the total export and import turnover of the country. China always holds the position of Vietnam’s largest fruit and vegetable export market with 14 officially exported agricultural products, accounting for 61.5% of the country’s total fruit and vegetable export turnover.
