According to records, the price of live pigs in the North increased by 1,000 VND/kg in Nam Dinh and Vinh Phuc provinces, currently reaching 62,000 VND/kg and 63,000 VND/kg respectively.
Other localities have prices going sideways compared to yesterday.

Live pig market in the Central region and Central Highlands
According to records, live pigs in the Central – Central Highlands have no new fluctuations in price.
Among them, traders in Binh Thuan provinces are buying live pigs at the highest price in the region of 63,000 VND/kg.
Pig prices in the remaining provinces are stable in the range of 60,000 – 62,000 VND/kg.
Currently, the price of live pigs in the Central region and Central Highlands ranges from 60,000 – 63,000 VND/kg.

A report from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shows that at the end of March and early April 2024, there were 2 outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) appearing in Nam Dong commune, Cu Jut district and Dak Som commune, Dak Glong district. The number of infected pigs that had to be destroyed was 27, weighing 688kg, according to Dak Nong newspaper.
Since the beginning of the year until now, Dak Nong has had 223 pigs infected with ASF, which were forced to be destroyed. Of these, 196 were transported by people from other places to Dak R’tíh commune, Tuy Duc district to provide breeds for people.
Fortunately, the authorities took samples and detected them promptly, so 196 breeding pigs have not entered the farming environment in the area.
Dak Nong Agriculture Industry recommends that people be proactive in implementing ASF prevention and control measures.
Farmers need to meet the main requirements for biosafety pig farming. It is the synchronous application of measures to prevent livestock exposure to pathogens.
Specifically, regarding barns, the construction location must be consistent with local planning, or permitted by competent State management agencies. Breeding pigs purchased for raising must have a clear origin, be healthy, have full quarantine papers and must be accompanied by a quality standards declaration.
Before entering the herd, pigs must be raised in isolation. Biosafety livestock facilities must arrange disinfectants at disinfection pits at the entrance and exit gates of livestock farms and livestock areas.

Pork prices in the South inched up slightly
In the southern region, the price of live pigs increased slightly by 1,000 VND/kg.
After the adjustment, Ho Chi Minh City raised the price of live pigs to 62,000 VND/kg – on par with Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Vung Tau and Dong Thap.
The remaining provinces in the region have no new fluctuations in prices.
The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 60,000 – 62,000 VND/kg.
