U23 Vietnam reached the 2024 U23 Asian finals with the youngest squad of the tournament. However, the coach’s team had a commendable performance when they won tickets to the quarterfinals with second place in Group D (6 points) after 2 wins, 1 loss and scoring 5 goals.

This is also the first time U23 Vietnam won a ticket to the quarterfinals one match early in the tournament’s history.

Of course, U23 Vietnam’s performance in the past 3 matches still revealed many personal mistakes, but it cannot be denied that the young players led by coach Hoang Anh Tuan have improved day by day. especially the faces who regularly play football in V.League such as Nguyen Thai Son, Vo Nguyen Hoang, Khuat Van Khang, Vo Hoang Minh Khoa, Bui Vi Hao…

Playing regularly in the V.League helps two players on the Thanh Hoa club payroll, Thai Son and Nguyen Hoang, gain confidence and the ability to manage on the field.

With Thai Son, the 2003-born midfielder appeared in 14/15 matches in the first 2023-2024 season with 1,215 minutes of play. Although he has not scored a goal in this year’s national championship, he is always an important factor in coach Popov’s team, managing the second line of the Thanh team well.

Compared to Thai Son, Vo Nguyen Hoang played less, playing 11/15 matches of Thanh Hoa FC. The striker from Dong Thap scored a goal against Song Lam Nghe An in round 3 of V.League 2023-2024.

One of the most mentioned faces in the group stage is midfielder Khuat Van Khang. He created a super goal from a free kick against the wall against Malaysia U23 in the second match.

At the age of 20, Khuat Van Khang gradually showed maturity and gradually perfected his football skills.

After 15 rounds in V.League 2023-2024, the striker born in 2003 appeared 13 times, played 771 minutes and had 2 goals. Although he is often sent onto the field in the second half, there is no denying this player’s agility and ability to create breakthroughs.

Thanks to being given the opportunity in the domestic tournament, Khuat Van Khang improved clearly, received the trust of coach Hoang Anh Tuan and played stably in the U23 Vietnam shirt.

Two players from Binh Duong club, Bui Vi Hao and Vo Hoang Minh Khoa, also played prominently in the U23 Asian group stage. In particular, Vi Hao scored a double against Kuwait and indirectly brought home a penalty kick for the home team. Meanwhile, Minh Khoa somehow dominates the midfield, attacking and defending rhythmically with good passing lines.

In the domestic arena, Vi Hao appeared in 14/15 matches in V.League 2023-2024, played 890 minutes and had 1 goal. Teammate Minh Khoa also played 14 matches, total 620 minutes and scored 1 goal.

In the goalkeeper position, Quan Van Chuan is the face who plays the most at the club level compared to his two teammates Van Tung and Van Truong. The goalkeeper born in 2001 started 8 matches for Hanoi FC with a total time of 720 minutes.

With the opportunity to play more in the V.League, the young players of U23 Vietnam have more confidence and progress.

U23 Vietnam is very focused to prepare for the quarter-final match which is expected to be very difficult when they face U23 Iraq at 00:30 on April 27.
