In the warm atmosphere of the meeting, delegates interacted with historical witnesses and reviewed the nation’s heroic fighting years in the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

Leaders of Military Region 4 and Nghe An province presented gifts to historical witnesses participating in the program.

Speaking gratefully at the program, Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, affirmed that the program of meeting Dien Bien soldiers, youth volunteers, and frontline workers aims to continue to arouse and promote the tradition of patriotic system, revolutionary heroism, determination to fight and victory of the Dien Bien Phu campaign in the cause of building and firmly defending the Fatherland; honor and deeply express gratitude to the generations of Vietnamese people in general and Nghe An province in particular who have sacrificed blood and made many contributions in the cause of national liberation and unification.

Interact with historical witnesses who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign

At the program, leaders of Nghe An province gave gifts to soldiers, young volunteers, and frontline civilians who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

70 years ago, Nghe An was a solid rearguard in the Dien Bien Phu campaign “famous in five continents, shaking the earth”. In just a short time, Nghe An people have warehoused 1,460 tons of dried and clean rice; transporting 5,000 tons of food; 5,438 additional young men served the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

In addition, Nghe An youth volunteers stood side by side with the army and people across the country to overcome high passes, deep streams and enemy bombs to supply weapons, ammunition and food to the soldiers.

Before the meeting, the delegation offered flowers to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at Ho Chi Minh Square.

According to statistics, the total number of Dien Bien soldiers, young volunteers, and frontline civilians who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign currently alive in Nghe An province is 1,328 people. Among them, there were 525 Dien Bien soldiers, 547 former youth volunteers, 172 frontline civilians and 84 wounded soldiers.

Nghe An also has 705 families whose relatives are martyrs, young volunteers, and frontline civilians who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign.
