BHG – On the afternoon of April 24, Comrade Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee went to inspect the actual progress of a number of investment projects and worked with relevant units on the results of implementing tasks at the Provincial People’s Committee. Thanh Thuy border gate economic zone (Vi Xuyen). Accompanied by comrade Ha Thi Minh Hanh, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; leaders of a number of departments, branches and Vi Xuyen district.

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Son inspected the progress of the project to build bridge No. 2 across Lo River; Road project connecting National Highway 2 to Na La Border Trade Zone. Bridge No. 2 project across Lo River has a total investment of 61.7 billion VND, invested by the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board; Construction begins in December 2022, completed in September 2024. To date, abutment M1 and pier T1 have been completed; Constructed 16/24 reinforced concrete beams; Completed installation of 8/8 span beams; Completed construction of the cross beam system and bridge deck of span I; Completed construction of T2 pillar item with 8/8 piles; Construction of pedestal and pier body, M2 abutment bored piles is being constructed. Total implementation value is estimated at 25/50.5 billion VND. The total capital plan assigned to the project to date is 24.2 billion VND; 18.4 billion VND has been disbursed.

For the project connecting National Highway 2 to Na La Border Trade Zone, the total approved investment is over 59.9 billion VND. Project implementation period is from 2021 – 2025; The project has a total length of over 1.3 km. Compensation and site clearance work has been counted, compensation paid to 4 households and assigned to the construction unit from Km1+00 to Km1+359.71; The remaining section of the route is completing procedures to hand over to the construction contractor. Currently, the contractor has excavated, transported soil and rock, and built anti-landslide embankments. Capital allocated to date is 28.8 billion VND; 15.8 billion VND has been disbursed. The 2024 plan allocates 20 billion VND, expected disbursement to reach 1.8 billion VND by April 30, 2024.

Regarding the results of implementing tasks at Thanh Thuy border gate economic zone, from the beginning of the year until now, total export and import turnover reached 54.4 million USD, down 24.5% compared to the same period in 2023; It is estimated that by April 30, 2024, total export and import turnover will reach 65 million USD. Tax collection and payment to the state budget reached 33 billion VND. There are over 67 thousand people entering and exiting through Thanh Thuy International Border Gate, an increase of 361.4% over the same period in 2023. There are over 5 thousand vehicles participating in entry and exit, a decrease of 25% compared to the same period in 2023. with the same period in 2023. Receiving 35 Vietnamese citizens returned by the Chinese Police. Issued over 2 thousand international transport licenses for entry and exit vehicles. Disinfected over 3 thousand freight vehicles, nearly 64 thousand tons of goods. Plant quarantine of nearly 1,500 shipments, with a volume of over 80.3 thousand tons of goods…

At the meeting, relevant units proposed that the Provincial People’s Committee consider additional capital in 2024 to speed up the construction progress and complete the bridge No. 2 project across Lo River according to the signed contract; early approval to add a list of projects to the 2024 land use plan of Vi Xuyen district; for the policy of implementing an investment project for a general trade and logistics complex on the East bank of Lo River to attract investment into Thanh Thuy border gate economic zone. Recommend that the compensation and site clearance council of Vi Xuyen district soon relocate technical items within the project scope; Soon officially approve the compensation plan to recover the advance according to regulations.

Through inspection and working with relevant units, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Son requested the Management Board of Thanh Thuy Border Gate Economic Zone to regularly coordinate with the opposite side to attract investment in the logistics field; Coordinate with Vi Xuyen district to complete site clearance for projects; Urging construction contractors to mobilize workers and machinery to speed up the implementation of investment projects. Relevant departments and branches calculate and balance projects to allocate capital for ongoing projects in Thanh Thuy border gate economic zone. Vi Xuyen district needs to direct and have solutions to thoroughly handle problems in compensation and site clearance for projects. Functional units need to have close coordination to seriously check people and vehicles participating in entry and exit; Do a good job of goods inspection and quarantine at border gates, and ensure environmental sanitation in Thanh Thuy border gate economic zone.
