The project has a total length of 9.5 km, the starting point connects to the main road of Cai Rong Urban Area and the ending point connects to the intersection of Van Don Airport – Complex Park.

It is worth mentioning that, contrary to expectations about the dream coastal road, bringing happiness to people and convenience for investors coming here, over the past 3 years, tourists, local people, Investors have to suffer when traveling on roads full of “potholes” and “elephant holes”.

For many years, people on both sides of Provincial Road 334 have lived miserable lives because of the “road of suffering”.

The most miserable thing is that on sunny days, the dust and dirt cause environmental unsanitary conditions. On rainy days, it is muddy and the road surface is full of stagnant ponds.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Hoa (48 years old, residing in H.Van Don) said: “Every time I go on Provincial Road 334 passing through Ha Long commune, I feel scared. The road is bumpy and difficult to travel on. Provincial Road 334 is considered the “backbone” of Van Don Economic Zone, so the current serious deterioration of this road greatly affects the investment environment. Many businesses with projects around the route are bored when talking about this “painful road”.

An investor from Hanoi lamented: “The trillion-dollar resort complex was started a few years ago and has now been completed by the investor; meanwhile, route 334 will become more and more degraded if it lasts as long as it does. This will greatly affect the quality, promotion and attraction of investment into Van Don Economic Zone.”

Trillion road road is behind schedule because of land clearance capital increase

According to the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Transport Works in Quang Ninh province, the project to expand Provincial Road 334 is behind schedule. According to the initial plan, the 9.5 km long section mentioned above will be put into operation in June 2023; But up to now, the project has only completed 60% of the volume.

The project to upgrade and expand Provincial Road 334 has been unfinished for the past 3 years because there is no premises.

A representative of the Investment and Construction Management Board of traffic works in Quang Ninh province said that the reason for the slow progress was due to the project’s overcapitalization, stemming from site clearance work.

Specifically, to implement the project, Van Don District must reclaim more than 40 hectares, including: road land, land of more than 400 households and organizations located within the boundary line. However, up to now more than 3 years of implementation, contractors have only organized construction on about 40% of the area handed over by the locality. In particular, the first 2.9 km of the route is still intact and the last 2.5 km of the route has not been completed.

The area of Ha Long commune is constricted because there is no ground for further construction

According to the People’s Committee of Van Don District, regarding the site clearance of the above project, recently, the Inspection Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee has just proposed disciplining 17 local officials involved due to laxity and lack of inspection and supervision. resulting in the project being overcapitalized.

Currently, individuals who committed violations related to project site clearance compensation have basically overcome the consequences; At the same time, speed up the progress of handing over the premises to investors.
