Dun Mountain is located about 45km north of Thanh Hoa city, in Ha Long commune, Ha Trung district, bordering Ninh Binh province.

According to local people, inside Dun Mountain there is a cave that people discovered a long time ago. There are 4 entrances to the cave, but 2 cave entrances are located in the stone quarry area, the remaining 2 cave entrances are small, narrow, hidden by forest trees, so very few people enter the cave.
Notes from reporters Dan Tri, the cave entrance in the west, which people here often call the water cave, has the most convenient location to get inside. However, to enter the cave, you have to go through a steep slope up the mountain, with vines tangled all around. There are narrow passages in the cave that adults have to squeeze through and bend over to get through.
Going through the narrow cave entrance, the inside of the cave gradually expands with many nooks and crannies.
The central area of the cave is about 50m2 wide, about 40m high, and has 4 doors.
On the cave walls there are many quite large natural stalactites, with all sorts of strange shapes. Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism affirmed that these stalactites need to be preserved and promote their value associated with local tourism development.
Over time with geological formations, stalactites take on many different shapes, colors, and sizes.
In the cave there is a puddle of clear blue underground water. During the rainy season, the water source in the cave is very large, flooding many paths.
To consider and evaluate the value of Dun mountain cave, Thanh Hoa province has temporarily stopped mineral exploitation in the limestone mine area.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presides and coordinates with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Construction, Ha Trung District People’s Committee and relevant scientists and units to conduct a comprehensive survey and assessment. about the scale, value, historical, cultural, heritage and tourism significance (if any) of the cave at Dun Mountain.
Ms. Phan Thi Lan, Head of the Culture and Information Department of Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa, said that in the near future the locality will coordinate with relevant agencies, departments, branches, units and leading scientists in the field. , organize seminars and surveys to evaluate the scale, value, historical and cultural significance and potential of Dun mountain cave.
