On the afternoon of April 24, comrade Trinh Viet Hung, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People’s Committee, chaired the conference to listen to reports on the results of the archaeological excavation of the Roof Site. Nguom stone in Than Sa commune (Vo Nhai). Attending the Conference were archaeological experts; leaders of a number of related departments, branches and units and Vo Nhai district.

The archaeological site of Nguom Stone Roof in Kim Son hamlet, Than Sa commune (Vo Nhai), was ranked as a National Monument in 1982. The stone roof has a frog shape, about 30m higher than the surface of the residential road and higher. Compared to the water level of Than Sa river, it is about 40m. The surface area of ​​the stone roof with traces of cultural strata is nearly 1,000 square meters. To date, Nguom stone roof has been excavated 5 times, in the years: 1981, 1982, 1985, 2017 and most recently in early 2024.

This is also the first relic of the Paleolithic era in Vietnam to record such unique stone-making methods and techniques. New research results, updated from excavations in 2017 and 2024, show that this site deserves to be ranked as a special National Monument.

After listening to the opinions of experts, scientists and representatives of specialized agencies, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Trinh Viet Hung requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Thai Nguyen Provincial Museum to coordinate closely with specialized agencies at the Central Government and the People’s Committee of Vo Nhai district to continue consulting and consulting with scientists to prepare a dossier to request recognition as a special National Monument; coordinate with scientists around the world to continue research and propose recognition of the Nguom Stone Roof Relic as a World Heritage Site; Proposing to add the overall planning of the Relic Site to the general planning of Vo Nhai district, ensuring an appropriate planning area, without affecting the core area or buffer zone of the Relic Site. At the same time, pay attention to preserving Than Sa cultural space, promoting the value of the Monument to attract a large number of domestic and international tourists. In the immediate future, it is necessary to research and consult with experts on making roofs to protect relics and artifacts…
