On April 24, Mr. Nguyen Huu Sau, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Son Thanh commune, Yen Thanh, Nghe An, said that the piece of paper with the content “I apologize to my parents for the pressure to study” Left on the bridge with sandals and hair ties was just a joke by 3 elementary school students.
At noon on the same day, people traveling on Truong Son bridge, in Son Thanh commune, discovered a piece of paper left on the bridge wall with the above content. Suspecting something bad was going on, people immediately reported it to local authorities.

Receiving information, leaders of Son Thanh commune mobilized the police, local militia and people to organize a search. Authorities dived and spread nets to scan the riverbed to search, but to no avail.
At about 2:00 p.m. on the same day, when the search was being urgently carried out, some students passed by and reported that this was just a joke among their friends, and that no one jumped from the bridge because of pressure.
“Through verification, we discovered that this was a joke by 3 4th and 5th grade students of an elementary school in the commune. After leaving behind the slippers and paper as above, this group of students left the scene. We have assigned the police, schools and families to remind and educate the children,” Mr. Nguyen Huu Sau informed.
According to the Chairman of the Commune People’s Committee, when the incident happened, many people filmed and broadcast it live on social networks, causing confusion, especially for parents working abroad and with school-age children.

Previously, on February 8, 2023, a similar incident occurred in Hung Trung commune (Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An).
At around 2:15 p.m. the same day, people discovered a paper “I’m sorry, parents” with a signature and a pair of sandals on the bridge. After determining there were no signs of suicide, Hung Trung Commune Police extracted the camera and discovered that this was just a joke by three 7th grade male students in the area.
Working with the authorities, these 3 male students said they learned this student on Tiktok and followed it for the purpose of “joking for fun”.
