On the afternoon of April 24, after many days of deliberation, the People’s Court of Kien Giang province reopened the first instance trial of 4 defendants who are doctors, security guards at H. Go Quao Medical Center and 4 accomplices on charges of forgery at work. This is a group of defendants who forged nearly 1,700 health certificates for people who wanted to learn to drive class A1.

Defendant Tran Thanh Phong, former security guard at H. Go Quao Medical Center, was sentenced to 13 years in prison for falsifying his work.

According to the indictment, from 2019 to 2021, Tran Thanh Phong (43 years old, security guard at H.Go Quao Medical Center, Kien Giang) and defendants Huynh Long (45 years old), Danh Chanh Tuy (56 years old ), Lam Thi Minh Phung (53 years old, also a doctor at H. Go Quao Medical Center) took advantage of her assigned duties for personal gain.

Specifically, Phong discussed and agreed with Tuy, Long, and Phung to accept fake health certificates to supplement the A1 driving license test records for 4 defendants Nguyen Thi Huyen Nga (67 years old) and Le Hoang Xuan (also a collaborator of Kien Giang Youth Vocational Training Center); Nguyen Chi Loi (57 years old), Le Thi Hong Gam (42 years old, both collaborators at Kien Giang Ethnic Boarding Vocational School).

Even though they knew they were not assigned the task of signing medical examination certificates, Long, Phung, and Tuy still signed false conclusions on nearly 1,700 health examination certificates for Nga, Xuan, Loi, and Gam to gain unfair profits. over 48 million VND.

As for Phong, taking advantage of being assigned to hold the key to the seal storage cabinet of H. Go Quao Medical Center, he stamped fake health examination papers to gain illegal profits of nearly 23 million VND.

Defendants Nga, Loi, Gam, and Xuan, because they wanted to attract students, colluded with Phong and Phung to make fake health certificates for students taking the A1 driver’s license exam. In total, these 4 defendants illegally profited nearly 17 million VND.

At the end of the trial, the Kien Giang Provincial People’s Court sentenced defendant Tran Thanh Phong to 13 years in prison for his role as mastermind in falsifying health certificates; Phung, Long, and Nga each received 12 years in prison; Although 8 years in prison, Loi 7 years in prison, Gam 3 years in prison and Xuan 1 year in prison. At the same time, force the defendants to return the illegal profits to the public treasury.
