(PLO) – 8 coffee samples from farmer households with the best quality were rigorously selected by the organizers of the Vietnam Arabica coffee quality selection contest.
On April 24, the 10th Vietnamese Arabica coffee quality selection contest took place at Da Lat University, Lam Dong province.
Contest “Quality selection coffee Arabica Vietnam” co-organized by UCC Vietnam Company (part of Japan’s UCC Ueshima Coffee Group), La Viet Coffee Company Limited (Da Lat City) and Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, Da Lat University .
Coffee farmers brought 36 samples of Arabica specialty coffee selected from gardeners in Lam Dong to participate in the competition.
These are coffee beans grown at an altitude of over 1,200m above sea level.
According to the organizing committee, the judging standards for this year’s selection are based on the SCA form (Specialty Coffee Association) including 10 criteria: aroma, complex taste, aftertaste, and acidity. , flavor thickness, even taste, even cleanliness, even sweetness between glasses, balance and overall flavor.
After winning the award, the coffee samples will be distributed in the Japanese market with detailed information about the name of the farmer, processing method, growing area and Vietnamese national flag on the packaging.
After passing the preliminary round, the 10 best quality coffee samples participate in the final round.
Coffee samples that reach the final round will be judged by judges who are coffee experts from different countries and regions to ensure objectivity when evaluating quality.
The final result, the coffee sample of farmer household Tran Thi Hue (Lam Dong) won first prize with a reward of 20 million VND, a medal, and a certificate from the organizing committee.
Second prize went to farming household Ngo Thi Muoi and third prize to Nguyen Hai Hung both in Lam Dong province.
