Mr. Wei Hoa Tuong, Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City and Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People’s Committee discussed at the meeting.

Mr. Pham Van Thieu, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, along with leaders of a number of departments, branches, and Business Association of Bac Lieu province received and worked with the delegation.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Pham Van Thieu introduced an overview of the socio-economic situation of Bac Lieu, emphasizing the factors of geographical location, along with the potential and advantages of Bac Lieu land when owning it. 3 ecological zones: salty, fresh, brackish, creating rich and diverse agricultural products. With rice, Bac Lieu province produces over 1 million tons each year, while shrimp farming is considered a key field, bringing in annual export turnover of more than 1 billion USD.

Besides, Bac Lieu also possesses great advantages in developing clean energy, mainly wind power with a total capacity of more than 460MWh/year. Bac Lieu province’s perspective is to welcome domestic and foreign businesses to invest. Bac Lieu will actively support businesses, especially foreign businesses that want to develop production and business in the province.

Mr. Pham Van Thieu said that the cooperation and investment between Chinese provinces and Bac Lieu is still quite modest, so he hopes that the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will act as a bridge for cooperation. Cooperation between the province and other Chinese provinces will develop stronger in the coming time. Bac Lieu also hopes to continue developing cultural exchange channels, connecting tourism products between Chinese localities and the province, thereby gradually promoting tourism development.

Mr. Wei Hoa Tuong, Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, said that between Bac Lieu and some coastal localities in China there is a lot of space and potential for development in trade and investment. Therefore, the two sides should seek more opportunities and promote greater potential to expand cooperation. The Chinese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City also hopes that cooperation between Chinese localities and Bac Lieu will have specific and practical products in the coming time.
