(PLO)- The Indian peacock, also known as the peacock, flew to the third floor of a house in Thu Duc City and was caught by people and handed over to the forest rangers.
On April 24, the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department just received a peacock from a citizen who voluntarily handed it over.
Ms. Le Thi Phuong (living in Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City) said that on the afternoon of April 20, her biological sister in Thu Duc City closed the door and saw a beautiful white bird perched on the third floor balcony.
Ms. Phuong’s sister pushed the peacock to fly away, but it couldn’t fly away, so she caught it and brought it back into the house. Through discussion and research, the sister knew that this was a peacock, also known as a peacock Phoenix.
Ms. Phuong’s family then took the giant bird to the Wildlife Rescue Station in Cu Chi to hand it over.
Receiving the giant peacock for rescue according to regulations, rangers from the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department initially determined that this was an Indian peacock (scientific name is Pavo cristatus), belonging to Appendix III of the Convention on Trade. International Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). The ranger noted that the peacock was male and weighed about 4kg.
